Newly minted middleweight champion Michael “The Count” Bisping will look to make the first defense of his 185-pound title at October 8’s UFC 204 from his home of Manchester, England against longtime veteran Dan “Hendo” Henderson. Bisping has made it clear that he’s out to avenge the iconic knockout loss he suffered to “Hendo” at UFC 100 back in 2009, and apparently the Brit doesn’t plan on fighting till the final bell.
In fact, Bisping recently told Independent that he sees a third round finish in his future:
“With Dan Henderson, everybody knows you don’t even need to do research to know that it’s his right hand. Dan Henderson has a heavy left and right hand. I, of course, found out at UFC 100. And I’ve got to watch that right hand. It’s simple as that. I respect Dan Henderson. I’ve got the speed advantage. Saying that, I had the speed advantage last time but he caught me. So I’ve got to be careful and stick to the basics. If I do the basics well, I win the fight. Keep my chin tucked in, keep my guard high and deliver fast powerful shots. I think as the fight progresses; I will wear him down then I will look for the finish in round three.”
Both Bisping and Henderson last competed at UFC 199 on June 4, 2016. Henderson scored a brutal stoppage victory over Hector Lombard while Bisping shocked the world and knocked out Luke Rockhold in the main event of the evening to become the undisputed champion.
