It looks like the United Kingdom may have found its own version of UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
Well, at least someone who thinks he can fight like him.
World champion kickboxer and welterweight mixed martial artist Michael Page made his professional MMA debut this past weekend at Ultimate Challenge MMA 26 in London. Taking on fellow newcomer Ben Dishman, Page wasted no time showing off his world class kickboxing skills.
In the video above, Page channels his inner “Spider,” using erratic hand movement and a bit of showboating to put his opponent on edge. Dishman was unable to take down “Venom”—an apropos nickname for Page in this comparison—and was baffled in the stand-up.
For the entirety of the short bout, Page would leave his hands down in trademark Anderson Silva fashion before lunging in for a punch or leg kick.
After a failed takedown attempt, Page waited for Dishman to stand back up, leaving his hands down again, before throwing a tornado kick to effectively knock Dishman out just one minute and five seconds into the first round.
The win was Page’s first in his career, while Dishman suffered his first professional loss in his MMA debut.
