While yours truly loved Saturday night’s fight between Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit at UFC 154 in Montreal, at least one person was less than satisfied.
Said Nick Diaz via Twitter:
I am not impressed by your performance @georgesstpierre
— nick diaz (@nickdiaz209) November 18, 2012
The tweet is a reference to the post-fight smack-talk along those same lines that Georges St-Pierre laid down on Matt Hughes at UFC 63, following Hughes’ victory over BJ Penn, which set up for a rematch between the two. Diaz, in this case, was criticizing GSP‘s UFC 154 performance against Carlos Condit, which he won by decision.
Diaz was originally meant to fight Georges St-Pierre at UFC 137 but was taken out of the bout after failing to fulfill his media obligations. He instead fought BJ Penn, and beat him by unanimous decision.
Diaz fought Carlos Condit earlier this year, losing by unanimous decision, and was suspended afterward due to testing positive for marijuana metabolites. Diaz was deeply dissatisfied with the decision, and openly pondered retirement (though few believed he would follow through on the discussion).
Even so, Diaz has openly had a fight with GSP in his sights, and it remains one of the most intriguing possible bouts in the welterweight division.
