The loss, which came at 2:52 of Round 1, was a huge blow for Magalhaes.

The Nova Uniao-trained fighter bounced back from a loss in his UFC debut with four straight victories, which included three stoppage wins. While a win over Samman might have been enough to push him into the UFC’s top-15 rankings, this loss cements him into the middle of a crowded 185-pound division.

Samman, on the other hand, is officially a breakout star for the UFC.

The TUF17 alum won his UFC debut in impressive fashion by knocking out Kevin Casey. Unfortunately, his momentum was halted when he was forced to spend 20 months out of the cage due to a series of injuries and the tragic death of his girlfriend. He returned to the cage in December 2014 with a brutal knockout win over Eddie Gordon.

This win over Magalhaes may be enough to earn him some legitimately high-profile fights.
