Top-10 light heavyweight Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis has the most experience fighting former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans in the Octagon, but after losing a unanimous decision at the last UFC on Fox show, he will have to watch Evans take on reigning champion Jon “Bones” Jones at UFC 145.

“Really, I just got to get more time in,” Davis said of his loss. “He (Rashad) has had double or triple my experience and I just had to really stop and say, you know what, three years ago I was watching him on DVD saying, ‘man, this dude is cool,’ and I’m like, he’s not cool.”

“I just have to put things into perspective,” Davis continued. “A couple more years in, and that will just never happen. It was a good learning experience.”

Since losing the title to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98, Evans has gone on to defeat Davis, Tito Ortiz, Quinton Jackson and Thiago Silva.

Jones had arguably the best single year of any professional fighter when he defeated Machida, Jackson, Mauricio Rua and Ryan Bader in 2011. His win over “Shogun” made him the youngest UFC champion.

“Part of me wants to say, I don’t think he (Rashad) will win, but honestly, I think I’m rooting for Rashad,” Davis said. “I pretty much have to because I lost to him. So, at this point, I’m going to say he’s going to win.”
