What started as just trash talk has gotten personal between Rashad Evans and Phil Davis. We always hear words from Evans, but Davis has come out of his shell as the fight rapidly approaches.
Davis-Evans is the main event of the UFC on Fox 2 show. If Evans wins and comes out healthy, he will face UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. If Davis wins, he still may not get the opportunity to face Jones. The event takes place Saturday night from the sold out United Center in Chicago, IL.
The preliminary portion of the card starts at 5 ET/2 PT on Fuel TV with the main beginning at 8 ET/5 ET on Fox.
Here are some notes from what Evans and Davis said at open workouts:
Davis on Rashad criticizing his striking: “Bless his heart, you know. I would hate for him to say that and something bad might happen to him. That would look bad for him.”
Evans on if he feels the pressure to sell the card: “Nah, I mean, its already sold out. I just don’t really like Phil Davis right now. Phil Davis made a couple comments that kinda bothered a little bit and I really didn’t like that. I want to say as much as I can to hurt his feelings cuz he’s sensitive. Phil is not really a fighter. You know if you ever talk to Phil he so soft spoken and always smiling all the time.”
