The UFC has brought on another Golden Glory team member to their roster, with welterweight Siyar Bahadurzada announcing via Twitter that he has signed with the promotion.

“I signed with the @UFC!!!!” Bahadurzada tweeted. “I’m very excited to be a part of the UFC and test my skills with the crème de la crème of MMA.”

Bahadurzada, a native of Afghanistan, is riding a six-fight win streak and can currently be seen on the 14th season of the Ultimate Fighter as a coach on Jason “Mayhem” Miller’s team.

The Afghan welterweight, who is currently 20-4-1, is also a former Shooto Light-Heavyweight champion, and he owns wins over Strikeforce veteran Evangelista Santos and former UFC and WEC fighter John Alessio.

Bahadurzada was signed to a contract with Strikeforce in 2010, but he never made his debut because of the rift between Golden Glory and Zuffa.

Many of his teammates, including former UFC heavyweight Jon Olav Einemo and former Strikeforce champion Marlos Coenen, were released from their respective promotions earlier this year because of the situation.

The signing does come shortly after former teammate Alistair Overeem signed with the UFC, although he left Golden Glory in order to join the promotion.

It is unsure whether Bahadurzada will remain with the team as he later tweeted, “I wanna thank the @UFC and @danawhite for this opportunity. I will shake up the ww division!!! Also special thanks to my team Golden Glory!”

No opponent or debut date has been set as of this time.
