Prior to their main event fight at The Ultimate Fighter 17 finale, Urijah Faber and Scott Jorgensen promised they would put aside their friendship for the duration of their bout. Despite some smiles while they received last-minute instructions from the referee, they did exactly as promised.

Through three full rounds and part of the fourth, the two showed no reluctance to throw strikes. According to the FightMetric numbers, Faber went 119-of-200 in the striking department, while Jorgensen was 76-of-173.

While striking played a part in the fight, it was not surprising that wrestling eventually decided the outcome between these two former college grapplers. Faber saw an opening in the fourth round and used that to take Jorgensen to the mat. Once on the ground, he quickly transitioned to the back of his opponent, secured the body lock and slapped on a rear-naked choke that left Jorgensen little choice but to tap out.

After the fight, Faber during his in-cage interview said, “He made a small mistake and I was able to capitalize. He’ll be back and hopefully we’ll fight for a belt some day.”

As for Jorgensen, he tweeted the following after the fight wrapped up:

The win put Faber’s record at 28-6. Faber’s only losses over his last 12 fights have come when he has battled for a title. He’s 0-5 in those title fights.
