The UFC will debut on FOX on Saturday, November 12 with a single fight being broadcast on Saturday night: a heavyweight title bout between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos. The fight will mark the first time the 9-0 Velasquez defends the title he captured from Brock Lesnar on October 23, 2010.
Velasquez injured his shoulder during that match. The injury required surgery and a lengthy rehab. Velasquez has said that his shoulder is back to 100 percent going into his bout with the 13-1 dos Santos.
Dos Santos (13-1) earned his shot at Velasquez by defeating Shane Carwin via unanimous decision at UFC 131. The win was Dos Santos’ second consecutive decision victory. Prior to those two victories, dos Santos’ 11 other wins came via stoppage. In fact, between the two, they have combined for 22 wins, with 16 coming via knockout.
The co-main event of the night will feature a lightweight bout between Clay Guida and Ben Henderson. This fight may very well be an elimination fight for a shot at UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. The fight will be streamed on the UFC’s Facebook page as well as FOXSports.com.
The main event will be broadcast at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. ET on FOX.
