Maia had been scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night 22 against Alan Belcher, but Belcher suffered a detached retina and had to withdraw from the fight. The UFC then promoted a UFC 118 fight between Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares to the main event of the UFN event.

The news comes via MMAjunkie.com, who noted that several sources confirmed the bout with them noting that it will take place on the main card of UFC 118.

Maia is looking to bounce back after a title fight loss to champion Anderson Silva last April in Abu Dhabi at UFC 112. This puts him at a 1-2 record in his past three fights after notching a win against Dan Miller at UFC 109 and a loss to Nate Marquardt at UFC 102.

Miranda is just 1-1 in the UFC and is looking to build off his first victory with the promotion having defeated David Loiseau at UFC 115 in Vancouver by TKO (punches). His first appearance, as well as his first career loss, came at the hands of Gerald Harris at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs. Gomi (UFN 21) by TKO.

UFC 118 features a lightweight title rematch between current champ Frankie Edgar and former champ BJ Penn. The event happens on Aug. 28 at TD Garden’s in Boston, Mass. and Spike TV will feature two preliminary bouts leading up to the PPV.
