Though it’s hard to imagine, last night may have been the last time we’ve seen BJ Penn inside the octagon.
The former world champion was utterly dominated by Strikeforce import Nick Diaz, who bludgeoned the Hawaiian with ripping shots to the head and body, having Penn wilted against the fence on several occasions.
In the end, though, Penn showed his warrior spirit and survived to the final bell, though the decision was clearly in favor of Diaz.
Of all his accolades, Penn has the right to retire now and take in the fact that he has left behind a legendary career, which merits Hall of Fame status.
