UFC 143 is in the books, and we know it will now be Carlos Condit, not Nick Diaz, who is next in line for Georges St-Pierre.
Despite Condit being one of the most talented fighters in MMA today, many people wanted to see Diaz continue his feud with St-Pierre.
Fans should still look forward to Condit vs. St-Pierre.
Although it would will be a huge fight because of St-Pierre’s long-awaited return and the title unification bout, it will not be the biggest fight of the year.
Condit and St-Pierre are two guys that respect each other. Although fights should not be sold on pre-fight drama, that is a huge part in making a big fight.
St-Pierre and Condit are also both guys that have proven they can stick to a game plan.
This could mean sacrificing entertainment for winning a fight.
While the fight will be big, I believe it will fall behind two other big title fights.
The first one if the long awaited match up between Rashad Evans and light heavyweight champ Jon Jones.
Jones and Evans have been feuding ever since Jones won the title.
The two were supposed to meet twice last year, but injuries stopped the two for meeting.
An even bigger fight that fans are looking forward to is the rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
After many suspensions, trash talk and a front kick to Vitor Belfort’s face, Silva and Sonnen will finally meet again.
Condit and St-Pierre may not be as big as those fights, but it will still be one of the biggest events of the year.
