Jon Jones successfully defended the UFC light heavyweight championship for a third time Saturday night when he won a unanimous decision over former champion Rashad Evans at UFC 145 in Atlanta.
Despite tremendous animosity between the two heading into the contest, Jones was able to keep his composure and not allow himself to get emotional at any point during their 25-minute affair. Although the entire contest occurred on the feet, it was shocking how easily Jones was able to shuck off Evans’ rare takedown attempts.
At this point in the game, Jones has defeated the four light heavyweights who have sat atop the division for years. This undeniable success is helping Jones make the case that he is the greatest light heavyweight of all time. The only sensible fight to make at this point in time is putting him against another man who has a claim to that title: Dan Henderson.
