U.S. Army Ranger Tim Kennedy is set to fight in front of a UFC crowd comprised completely of fellow troops. That’s pretty cool for everyone except his opponent, Rafael Natal.
Kennedy was originally scheduled to meet Lyoto Machida, but a Michael Bisping injury caused the Brazilian to move to UFC Fight Night 30 for a bout with Mark Munoz. That change worked out for Machida, who knocked out Munoz to become a Top Five middleweight, but Kennedy is now left with a bout that can’t help him in the 185-pound rankings.
Liz Carmouche, a U.S. Marine, will also compete in front of her fellow military members at UFC Fight for the Troops 3. Despite being in the co-main event, Carmouche‘s bout will carry more significance, as she meets No. 6 female bantamweight Alexis Davis in a bout that could determine the next title challenger in the women’s 135-pound weight class.
UFC Fight for the Troops 3 weigh-ins will be held on Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET. At that time, live streaming video will be available on the above video player.
