Matt Brown is being forced to take the long road to a shot at the UFC Welterweight Championship.
The Immortal has won six fights in a row, recording knockouts in five of those outings. Nonetheless, he finds himself competing against No. 14 contender Erick Silva on Saturday.
Silva has become recognized as one of the more promising fighters in the 170-pound class. However, with a 4-3 UFC record and no Top 15 wins, he wouldn’t appear to be the ideal opponent for a streaking Brown right now.
Also on this weekend’s fight card is middleweight contender Costas Philippou, who takes on Lorenz Larkin. Philippou has lost two in a row since emerging as a 185-pound title threat, so he’ll need to get things turned around on Saturday in order to remain in the hunt for a shot at UFC gold.
