It took a bit longer than she was hoping, but Joanne Calderwood now has her second UFC bout booked.
On Friday, UFC’s official website revealed that Calderwood would meet UFC newcomer Maryna Moroz at UFC Fight Night 64. Krakow, Poland will host that event on April 11.
Following a loss to Rose Namajunas in The Ultimate Fighter 20 semifinals, Calderwood made her official UFC debut on December 12. After three rounds, Calderwood earned a clear decision win over Seo Hee Ham. The victory improved her official MMA record to a spotless 9-0.
While Namajunas gave her problems on the ground, Calderwood is one of the top strikers in the strawweight division. With some improved defensive wrestling, she could have what it takes to become Scotland’s first UFC champion.
Hailing from Ukraine, a neighbor of Poland to the east, Moroz makes sense as an addition to the UFC Fight Night 64 card. Beyond her home’s proximity to the event, the 23-year-old is also unbeaten in five MMA appearances and has big potential.
Maryna Moroz is a great signing for the UFC 115-pound division, but Joanne Calderwood in her debut is a tall task.

That said, Calderwood will be a big step up. A win over the TUF 20 contestant would vault Moroz from relative unknown into the Top 10 of the strawweight rankings.
While this looks like a bout that will end up on the UFC Fight Night 64 preliminary card, UFC officials have not finalized the bout ordering. A rematch between heavyweight veterans Gabriel Gonzaga and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, who will be returning to the Octagon for the first time since October 2011, will headline the event.
