After UFC 140, UFC president Dana White announced that the UFC would be bringing in the flyweights for a March 3 tournament for UFC on FX 2.
Demetrious Johnson, Ian McCall, Joseph Benavidez and Yasuhiro Urushitani were announced as the participants in the tournament to determine the first ever UFC flyweight champion.
Benavidez and Johnson have been widely assumed to be the best picks to be the first UFC flyweight champion. But the UFC also brought in current Tachi Palace Fights flyweight champion and No. 1 flyweight, Ian McCall and current Shooto flyweight champion and No. 3 ranked flyweight, Yasuhiro Urushitani.
The tournament pits some of the grittiest fights the flyweight division has to offer and will produce some epic fights to inaugural division.
Maybe the flyweights will produce some of the best fights in UFC history.
