Friday on UFC on FX 2, heavy-handed light heavyweight James Te Huna defeated Aaron Rosa by TKO in the first round. Te Huna was able to get Rosa to the cage and hurt him badly with punches. Once Rosa fell to the ground, Te Huna finished him with ground-and-pound.

Here’s what we learned from the fight.

What we’ll remember about this fight

Te Huna has a great killer instinct. Once he had Rosa hurt, Te Huna swarmed on him. Rosa tried to hold on, but you can only take so many power punches before you go down. Te Huna has some serious power and he showed it in this fight.

What we learned about Te Huna

Te Huna is a dangerous light heavyweight to go against. In this fight he earned his 10th KO victory and is now 14-5. Te Huna may have other things to work on, but as long as he keeps the fight standing, he can be a threat against anybody.

What we learned about Rosa

Aaron Rosa is a tough fighter, but Te Huna was just too much for him. Although he tried to hang on, Rosa proved that sometimes even having a great chin does not help against powerful punches.

 What’s next for Te Huna

Te Huna needs a step up in competition. Perhaps a bout with fellow young light heavyweight Phil Davis would be a good test for him. There’s also Stephan Bonner, who has never truly been stopped in his career.

What’s next for Rosa

Rosa is now 1-2 in the UFC and will need to bounce back in his next fight. A scrap with veteran Vladimir Matyushenko could be a good fight for him.
