Jeremy Stephens has always been a bit of a hell-raiser inside and outside of the UFC cage. Well, now he may be known as the first fighter in UFC history to miss a scheduled bout because he was incarcerated.

Earlier this morning, Stephens was arrested by the Minneapolis police. No details as to why Stephens was arrested are being currently made available.

According to MMAJunkie.com, Stephens was arrested at the Marriott City Center Hotel, which was the UFC’s fighter hotel for the week. He was then transported to the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility.

Stephens has yet to be formally charged with a crime and it is currently unknown as to when he will be released from police custody.

There is a possibility that this fight continues without any issue, but it is also extremely possible that his bout with Yves Edwards will be scrapped entirely. If that is the case, expect the welterweight bout between Mike Pierce and Aaron Simpson to be moved from Facebook to Fuel TV.

Stephens is currently on a two fight losing streak and was in desperate need of a win. At 26 years old, he’s still considered one of the top young fighters in the UFC’s lightweight division, but he needs to get his personal life in order before he can take the next step.

Expect more news about Stephens in the coming hours.

Update: Damon Martin of MMAWeekly.com is reporting that Stephens was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Stephens used to reside in Iowa so it is very likely that this warrant was for an incident prior to his move to San Diego.

Update: Stephens is currently being held without bail for a felony charge from another state.
