Now the official owner of the fastest knockout in UFC history, Duane Ludwig isn’t concerned with anything MMA-related except training and competing to the best of his ability one fight at a time.

“I don’t really care what is going on outside of the cage as far as rankings and momentum,” Ludwig told Heavy after open workouts for this Friday’s UFC on FX. “My opponent is Josh Neer, and that is my focus. It’s the only thing I can control, so I don’t focus on his wins or losses. I focus on the task at hand. It’s not a good idea to look away from that.”

This Christmas, Ludwig’s present from UFC president Dana White came in the form of a Twitter message stating that Ludwig was now recognized for having the quickest knockout in the history of the organization. It was a title that Ludwig and his fans had been campaigning for since his victory over Jonathan Goulet was incorrectly timed at 11 seconds by the athletic commission.

After watching video of some of the UFC’s fastest knockouts side by side, White agreed with Ludwig and gave the welterweight fighter the distinction he had been hoping for. With that task out of the way, it was time for Ludwig to begin preparation for his upcoming fight against Josh Neer.

Not that Ludwig’s focus for Friday’s bout against Neer would have been hindered by his ongoing dispute, but this recent development could certainly give “Bang” some incentive to go out and give back to the UFC brass by putting on a show for the fans.
