Another day, another update on a possible Brock Lesnar return to the UFC. This time, TMZ Sports caught up to UFC President Dana White and ambushed him with questions about the former heavyweight champ (you can check it out here).

According to White, Lesnar “wants to” return to the UFC. “Because of his illness while he was [in the UFC], he wasn’t 100 percent,” he said, referencing Lesnar’s two ugly incidents with diverticulitis. “He’d like to take another run at it.” White speculated that once Lesnar’s schedule opened up from his current run in professional wrestling with the WWE, he would be willing to hook Lesnar up with another fight in the UFC.

As you almost certainly know, Brock Lesnar was the UFC’s heavyweight champion from 2008 until 2010. He took the belt from MMA legend Randy Couture, then defended it against Frank Mir at UFC 100. He suffered from a serious bout of diverticulitis, an illness that perforated his digestive tract, which kept him from fighting for a year.

His reign as champion was ended emphatically when he suffered a first-round knockout at the hands of Cain Velasquez at UFC 121. From there, Lesnar coached season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter opposite Junior dos Santos, but he was unable to fight the future champion after once again battling diverticulitis. He returned at UFC 141, where he retired following a loss to Alistair Overeem.

Still, Lesnar left behind a legacy as one of the biggest draws in MMA history, and in this post-Georges St-Pierre world, Zuffa could use a powerful draw like him. There are plenty of potential opponents for him, but the real question is if Lesnar really, truly wants to return or if this is just bluster by the UFC?
