November 15, 2015 marked the end of Ronda Rousey’s reign as UFC women’s bantamweight champion. The finality of that brutal head kick knockout against Holly Holm is still undecided though, as Hollywood movie roles beckon the now ultra popular MMA starlet. UFC 193 was meant to be ‘Rowdy’s’ defining moment, a huge pay-per-view headlined by the baddest woman in the sport who also played the lead role in bringing WMMA to the forefront. Best laid plans can go to waste though.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan was so sold on the idea of Rousey crushing Holm in a squash match, as were many of the sport’s growing followers, but the events that would unfold that night gave way to the belt changing hands three times over the coming nine months. After ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ snatched the strap from Rousey, she in turn got choked out in the first defense against Miesha Tate at UFC 195. So ‘Cupcake’ had finally come to elite status, but it would not last long as Amanda Nunes blasted and choked her way to victory at UFC 200.

Was the division growing exponentially in skill now that Rousey was gone, or maybe the first ever UFC women’s bantamweight queen was just that good in her prime. One thing is for sure, even with the musical chairs at the top of the division, we are all still wondering about Rousey’s comeback. Maybe it’s an immediate title fight, or she could try for revenge against the only woman ever to beat her, but surely her story doesn’t finish on a loss.

If this recent video is anything to go by, she’s finally admitting that UFC belt is on her mind.

“I want to win my belt back! My mom pulled me to the side of the mat and said, ‘I’m going to tell you what my coach told me. Winning is a bitch but revenge is a motherfucker,”

After going 12-0 as a professional a loss was always possible and, who knows, maybe she returns to mixed results or doesn’t get a win at all. But her recent talk indicates that ‘Rowdy’ isn’t ready to accept she’s done right now. At least if she does make that big step back in to competition, she and we will have those answers that have been brewing for nine months now.
