UFC fighter turned BKFC brawler ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry returned to the squared circle on Saturday night gunning for his fifth-straight win in the KnuckleMania IV main event in Los Angeles.

Standing in his way was former BKFC middleweight champion Thiago Alves, making his first appearance with the promotion since his title-winning performance against Ulysses Diaz in 2021.

Perry came out looking to put pressure on Alves early. Offering up a few combinations up against the ropes, Alves attempted to counter, but that only momentarily backed up Perry. Resuming his pursuit, Perry threw a combination punctuated by a nasty left hook that caught Alves clean, sending the former UFC standout to the canvas.

Alves answered the referee’s count, but it was clear that Alves was not all there, prompting Dan Miragliotta to call for the stoppage at the one-minute mark of the opening round.

Official ResultMike Perry def. Thiago Alves via TKO (left hook) at 1:00 of Round 1.

Mike Perry and Thiago Alves squared off in a Middleweight contest earlier tonight (Sat. April 27, 2024) from Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California for BKFC: KnuckleMania 4.

Perry marched toward his opponent and opened the bout with dipping jabs. He was throwing combinations early, and a right hand connected over the top. Moments later, a Perry left hook floored Alves badly. The Brazilian made his way back to his feet before the count concluded, but “Pitbull” was still looking pretty shaky on his feet. The referee intervened, and just like that, Perry’s undefeated bare knuckle run continued.

A small cut was open on Perry’s cheek, but that’s about as flawless as BKFC victories run!

This feels like the right call. Alves’ odds were never great at 40 years of age after an extended layoff, and that Perry left hook landed flush. Alves was on really wobbly legs, so it’s probably best to protect the veteran in this situation. Otherwise, he was only likely to get hurt worse, and damage adds up fast in bare knuckle.

As for Perry, he called out everyone from Darren Till to Nate Diaz in the immediate aftermath of his quickest finish in bare knuckle yet. Whoever’s next for “Platinum,” he remains a must-watch star.

Result: Mike Perry defeats Thiago Alves via first-round knockout

Mick Terrill and Lorenzo Hunt squared off in a Heavyweight title contest earlier tonight (Sat. April 27, 2024) from Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California for BKFC: KnuckleMania 4.

Hunt came out explosively, slipping as he fired a wild combination. Terrill landed a glancing right before Hunt exploded forward a second time. Terrill burst forward with a good right hand lead, and the two met in the clinch briefly. Terrill did good work in the close distance exchanges, firing uppercuts and right hands over the top. Moments later, another uppercut from Terrill floored Hunt.

Hunt hit the canvas badly, landing directly on his wrist behind his back at a terrible angle. I’m no doctor, but it was beyond obvious that Hunt dislocated SOMETHING in his arm. Immediately, Hunt knew the fight was over, and the referee called it off.

It’s an unfortunate injury, but Terrill fought well and got the job done! After the brief feeling out process, Terrill seemed confident that he could flurry forward. Before long, he was landing hard punches-in-bunches, and the fight didn’t seem to be going all that well for Lorenzo Hunt.

There was a lot of time left, of course, but the margin for error is thin in the bare knuckle ring. Hunt’s opportunity to become BKFC triple champion is sidelined at least for the moment, but the broadcast seemed to indicate an interest in rebooking the fight at some point.

Until then, Mick Terrill remains BKFC Heavyweight king.

Conor McGregor announces he is now a part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship

Conor McGregor is now a part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

On Saturday, the Irish megastar revealed that he would be making a “mega announcement” during the BKFC KnuckleMania IV broadcast live on pay-per-view. Speculation ran rampant that McGregor would announce a partnership between the bare-knuckle fight group and his popular brand of Irish whiskey, Proper No. 12.

Instead, it was something much more intriguing.

McGregor revealed that his company McGregor Sports & Entertainment is now a part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. What exactly this means for BKFC or his future with the UFC is uncertain.

Conor McGregor takes a piece of the BKFC pie while preparing for his return to the Octagon

McGregor is currently gearing up for his long-awaited return to the Octagon on July 29 during this year’s International Fight Week in Las Vegas. The former two-division titleholder is set to headline UFC 303 opposite former Bellator MMA champion Michael Chandler.

McGregor vs. Chandler

It will be his first time competing since suffering a devastating leg injury during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

Despite being shelved for nearly three years, McGregor has stayed in the spotlight for a variety of reasons. Almost one year ago to the day, McGregor stepped inside the BKFC squared circle at the promotion’s event in Denver, Colorado, for a viral staredown with the promotion’s top star, ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry.

The promotion had also previously announced a partnership with McGregor’s Forged Irish Stout.

Ben Rothwell and Todd Duffee squared off in a Heavyweight contest earlier tonight (Sat. April 27, 2024) from Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California for BKFC: Knucklemania 4.

It didn’t last long.

Rothwell advanced behind a high guard, showing Duffee his elbow. Before long, Rothwell fired a heavy combination, flooring Duffee in the opening 30 seconds with a straight punch. As soon as Duffee was back on his feet, Rothwell floored him a second time. Duffee wasn’t able to continue, handing Rothwell a knockout win inside a minute.

The problem came when the slow-motion replays started airing. What the heck did Rothwell actually land? The second knockdown didn’t demonstrate any clear connection, as the most significant impact came when Duffee hit his head on the canvas falling backwards a second time. Per Duffee, his shoulder was injured from the fall(s), and he opted not to continue.

It sure felt like Duffee quit after “Big Ben’s” first land.

Rothwell took the mic afterward and was pissed! He wanted a dramatic knockout or statement win, and instead his moment disappeared before it ever really started. It’s still a win, but will Rothwell receive the next Heavyweight title shot? There’s no guarantee because of the weirdness.

Result: Ben Rothwell defeats Todd Duffee via first-round knockout
