George Roop gave a rather imagery-filled opinion of Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes to MMAWeekly Radio, saying Aldo will have to get an abortion after the fight. The usually polite, yet unexpectedly witty Roop quipped:

Mendes in my opinion he’s probably going to take it to (Jose) Aldo. Aldo will probably have to go get an abortion afterwards, but I do think he’ll win the fight.

Chad Mendes is probably going to have to take him to planned parenthood afterwards, but I do think he’ll win that fight.”

I’ll admit I didn’t get this analogy so I called Roop who explained his comments derive from the “lay and pray” wrestling style and that some fighters joke, you’re down there so long you impregnate your opponent. Now that I get it, that’s pretty funny. Roop added in the interview with MMAWeekly that Aldo’s cardio is his biggest weakness which was exposed by Mark Hominick.

George Roop himself faces a tough opponent in a week and a half at UFC 137 in his main card bout against former Sengoku Featherweight Champion, Hatsu Hioki who will be making his UFC debut. Hioki is currently ranked the number # 2 Featherweight by Sherdog and #3 by MMAWeekly.

Chael Sonnen made a limited-time offer to Anderson Silva. The loser-leaves-town fight he presented the middleweight champ is apparently off the table.

“That offer was good when I made it, but it’s like any offer: They’ve got to expire,” Sonnen said today during an appearance on “The Jim Rome Show.”

But as with many proclamations given by Sonnen, it’s a good bet that just the opposite is true, or the entire offer was never true.

BJ Penn has endured career journey quite like no other fighter in the UFC.

The Hawaiian native has faced the world’s best fighters in two separate weight classes, while also being one of two only men to hold two UFC titles in two different divisions. At UFC 137, Penn will look to continue establishing his legacy as he prepares to face Nick Diaz.

Known for his competitive nature, Penn said he expects to test Diaz throughout the entire bout.

“I’m there to take him out from the first-round to the third-round,” Penn said during a pre-UFC 137 interview. “I just want to put on the performance of my life and I want to come out there with my hand raised.”

Penn and Diaz are slated to be in the co-main event, as UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Carlos Condit will headline the event.

UFC 137 is scheduled for October 29, live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Carlos ConditCarlos Condit had just finished doing about an hour of phone interviews to hype his title fight against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 137 when he heard the bad news.

St-Pierre was out with a knee injury, the bout was postponed, and the welterweight tilt between B.J. Penn and Nick Diaz would now take the main event spot on October 29.

“It was a surprise,” Condit told MMA Fighting on Tuesday afternoon. “…This has probably been the longest training camp of my career. Everything’s been going well, and then I get the call that [St-Pierre] is hurt. It took the wind out of my sails to say the least.”

More Coverage: UFC 137 Fight Card

Instead of getting his long-awaited shot at the UFC welterweight title at the end of the month, Condit is now off the UFC 137 card altogether. He’ll wait until the champ is healthy and the fight can be rescheduled, he said, since St-Pierre isn’t expected to be sidelined too long. With a relatively short time to wait, Condit said, taking another fight in the interim “just doesn’t make any sense.”

“From the sound of it, Georges, his recovery time isn’t going to be six months or anything like that,” said Condit. “From what I heard, they’re looking at more like six weeks. To take another fight just doesn’t make sense.”

The setback is obviously disappointing for Condit, who was pulled out of a bout with Penn and slotted into the title fight after Diaz’s press conference no-shows got him yanked from the main event, but the challenger said he’s doing his best to maintain a positive outlook.

“I’ll just have more time to work on things,” he said. “This is what I do for a living. This is my job, is to get up every day and go train. Not much has changed.”
