Alex Pereira reacts Adesanya taunting son celebration I wouldn't do the same UFC 287

Brazilian knockout artist, Alex Pereira has reacted to arch-rival, Israel Adesanya, taunting and mocking his son, Alessandro following his knockout loss at UFC 287 over the course of the weekend, claiming he would not have reacted the same if he was in a similar situation.

Pereira, who headlined the Saturday pay-per-view event under the promotion’s banner, suffered a thunderous second round KO loss to Nigerian-Kiwi striker, Adesanya in the pair’s championship rematch in Miami, Florida.

Starting well against his rival, Sao Paulo striker, Pereira even managed to unload on Adesanya at the Octagon fence in the second round, slamming leg kicks and a body shot, paired with a knee strike, before he was countered with two right hands from Adesanya – sending him to the canvas in a devastating KO loss.

Following his title triumph, City Kickboxing staple, Adesanya pointed to the crowd in search of Alex Pereira’s teenage son, Alessandro – falling to the canvas himself, mocking the latter’s choice to taunt him off the back of his 2017 KO loss to his father under the GLORY Kickboxing banner.

Alex Pereira opens up on his UFC 287 loss

Sharing his thoughts on Adesanya’s celebration, taunting his child, Pereira claimed that he would not have that mindset to carry out a similar celebration.

“I don’t know, I wouldn’t do the same,” Alex Pereira said during a video on his YouTube channel. “I can play with him [Alessandro], I’ve always played with him – I teased him. It was something that happened, but I don’t know – it’s another child. I don’t know what his feeling was. I don’t know. It is seven years ago [since Adesanya’s KO loss]. He was enduring it and I saw his joy that he had after the knockout, you know. Because that was his dream – that was his dream and he made it but we’re comparing him with a child who was 5 years old at the time, right? I don’t have that mind.”

“I can prove it because today he [Alessandro] is 12-years-old and before the fight, I saw that some reporters said, ‘You’re going to do this?’ [And Alessandro said] ‘I’m going to do it again’ and so on and he laughed, because he’s a kid, he thinks it’s funny. I did that, I knocked him out the night I won the belt and my kid was wanting to do the same thing up there. I said to him, ‘No. Stop – don’t do it, stay here and don’t do anything.’ I’m a conscious guy, and everything I’m saying here, really I’m saying and I wouldn’t do it.”

“I wouldn’t do it,” Alex Pereira explained. “If he did it, if he felt better that way, ok, it’s a relief. It’s a relief he had and if he thinks it’s better for him, ok. That won’t change anything for me.”

Touted to likely make a light heavyweight move in his Octagon return per UFC president, Dana White, Pereira said he would returned “stronger than ever” off the back of his stoppage loss to Adesanya.

“All the people who are following me since kickboxing, they know I am a hard worker and dedicated,” Alex Pereira explained. “I never quit. And the people who arrived now, you can think, how will this guy come back? Guys, I promise you, I’m going to come [back] firm and strong. I’m going to come [back] stronger than ever. You can write this down.”

Israel Adesanya claims he's ruined christmas for Alex Pereira family UFC 287

Off the back of his spectacular title victory at UFC 287 over the weekend, newly minted undisputed middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya claims his win over Alex Pereira – and celebration pointed toward his son, Alessandro has “ruined Christmas” for the Brazilian family.

Headlining Saturday’s pay-per-view card against arch-rival, Pereira, Adesanya managed to reclaim the undisputed middleweight throne, stopping the Sao Paulo knockout artist with a thunderous second round counter KO of his own at the Octagon fence.

Bouncing back to the winner’s enclosure following a November knockout loss of his own against Pereira at Madison Square Garden, City Kickboxing striker, Adesanya managed to also land his first victory over the Brazilian in four fights over their respective combat sports careers.

Celebrating in infamous fashion following his KO win over Pereira, Adesanya fired a trio of imaginary arrows from a bow at the former who lay on the Octagon canvas, before mocking Pereira’s teenage son, Alessandro – who attended the event.

“I’m petty, bro,” Israel Adesanya said. “I remember the first time [Alex Pereira] knocked me out in Brazil, and his son came into the ring and then started to lie dead next to me, and I’m like, ‘you f*cking little asshole. I’ll whoop your ass if your dad don’t do it for you.’”

“But then, yeah, I looked for his kid [in the crowd], and I pointed at him, and I saw him, and I was like, hey, hey, hey, [motions like he fell] just to remind him,” Israel Adesanya explained.

Khamzat Chimaev found it funny that the Sao Paulo menace Alex Pereira fell short at UFC 287 against his rival Israel Adesanya. After the fight, Chimaev did not hesitate to add insult to injury.

Pereira and Adesanya held the main event slot at UFC 287 in a matchup that could be considered the most important in either fighter’s career. It was the fourth time the two fighters would face each other in combat. At that point, the Sao Paulo striker was 3-0 against Adesanya, with two victories in kickboxing and one in MMA.

As the fight continued, things stayed reasonably close, but ‘Poatan’ did look to be in the lead. He took round one, and round two was much of the same until the fateful moment when Adesanya connected with two masterful right hands to send Pereira’s consciousness to a different dimension. It was a momentous occasion, and the crowd and fans across the world exploded with excitement to see such a split-second chain of events.

Khamzat Chimaev scoffs at Alex Pereira and Jorge Masvidal

From the sidelines, Chimaev thought things were pretty comical. He’d done a lot of talking in the lead up to UFC 287, and he sure didn’t hesitate to continue as the event drew to a close. On Twitter, he had a message for Pereira and Jorge Masvidal.

Alex Pereira, Jorge Masvidal, goodnight for you two,” Khamzat Chimaev snickered.

This wasn’t the first sly comment ‘Borz’ had for the Sao Paulo menace. Chimaev took to The MMA Hour to callout the then champion Pereira and claim he’d be an easy fight.

“He’s the most easy fight for me in the UFC,” Chimaev began (H/T BJ Penn.com). “Yeah, in my career, brother. First round. First minute. Easy. No punch, nothing. If Israel trains just wrestling in this training camp, he will beat him [Pereira] easily. The guy has zero wrestling. The UFC likes to push the guy, crazy guy, he’s always serious, that s***. I don’t like that guy.”

Things are not one-sided, however, as ‘Poatan’ insinuated that Khamzat Chimaev was a coward and ran away from opponents during a media day ahead of UFC 287.

“Whoever the UFC puts against me after this fight, I’ll be willing and ready,” Alex Pereira declared. “Talking about [Paulo Costa] ‘Borrachinha’ and [Robert] Whittaker, I respect them. I don’t see them talking trash at me, wanting to promote themselves. Chimaev ran from everybody.”

Would a fight between Alex Pereira and Khamzat Chimaev be entertaining?

Cedric Doumbe sends cryptic message to Israel Adesanya after UFC 287 win

The world was watching when Israel Adesanya defeated Alex Pereira at UFC 287, and so was Cedric Doumbe. The GLORY kickboxing phenom has been slated to make a run for the upper echelon of the MMA world, and it seems his eyes are locked on target to the elusive gold that is the UFC middleweight championship.

Adesanya and Pereira gave the fans a war at UFC 287. The two had battled three times previously, with ‘Poatan’ defeating ‘The Last Stylebender’ each time. At UFC 287, however, things would end quite differently.

With his back to the cage getting rocked by vicious hooks to the body and head, Adesanya would suddenly lash out with a series of right hands that would send Pereira’s consciousness to a different world.

It was a momentous occasion. Adesanya had finally defeated a seemingly unbeatable foe, and the crowd and fans across the world rejoiced. However, a GLORY kickboxing phenom was watching, and if the rumors are true: he’s coming for Adesanya’s throne…

Cedric Doumbe rumored to be targeting transition to MMA, sends intriguing message to Israel Adesanya after UFC 287 knockout

Holding a stunning 12-3 record in one of the world’s most prestigious kickboxing organizations, Cedric Doumbe isn’t a man to take lightly. Holding the GLORY kickboxing welterweight championship, he’s not only defended it but defended it a multitude of times.

The rumors that he’s looking to transition to MMA aren’t even really rumors, per se. In fact, Cedric Doumbe has already competed in MMA. Not only that, but he currently stands at 3-0 and already had the offer to fight for the UFC with a fight scheduled and everything. Now, the fight would end up being canceled, but the opportunity was there.

With the success of Alex Pereira, Israel Adesanya and the many that have come before them, one thing that has been established is that elite kickboxers do have a potential home in MMA. While grappling can take years, if not decades, to master: the art of defending a takedown is often aided by the tall and lanky build that most kickboxers tend to possess. Not only that, but their prowess on the feet often results in them leading the dance anyways. It’s known that wrestling is extremely hard to do when backing up, and with the forward pressure and confidence the elite kickboxers possess, they’re mostly not easy victims when it comes to the takedown.

This is all theoretical, of course, but if Cedric Doumbe were to join any division looking to attain a championship, then the middleweight division would be supremely ideal to try and tackle that goal.

As for the cryptic message he sent Adesanya, it was as simple as this:

Cedric Doumbe is watching, and if you’re in the know, you know what he’s insinuating with that simple emoticon. As for when and where Doumbe will make his long-awaited UFC appearance, this is yet to be disclosed. But rest easy, as it is likely to happen and may even take place this year.

Francis Ngannou Israel Adesanya Alex Volkanovski UFC 287

Francis Ngannou and Alexander Volkanovski went absolutely wild when their close friend Israel Adesanya knocked out Alex Pereira at UFC 287.

The knockout was extremely sudden and electrifying. Adesanya had his back to the cage and was getting lit up by bombs from Pereira when suddenly, ‘The Last Stylebender’ unleashed a perfectly timed shovel hook with his left and followed it up with a laser beam of a right hand.

This staggered ‘Poatan’, and Adesanya would fake with his left before connecting with another right hook that sent Pereira unconscious and crashing to the canvas. For good measure, ‘The Last Stylebender’ connected with a final nuclear warhead of a hammer fist to well and truly make sure the fight was indeed finished.

This would make Adesanya and Pereira 1-1 in MMA and 3-1 in all, as Poatan has two notorious victories over Adesanya from their kickboxing days and also defeated ‘The Last Stylebender’ upon their first fateful meeting inside the cage at UFC 281.

Pereira was like Adesanya’s kryptonite for so long now, and the whole world was pretty much ecstatic to see ‘The Last Stylebender’ finally accomplish something that had taken him so long to do and eluded him so painfully.

As seen in the video below, Ngannou was beaming from ear to ear as he cheered on his beloved friend. On the TV, you see glimpses of Israel Adesanya celebrating this gigantic milestone in his life.

A fellow teammate and good friend of Israel Adesanya was also eagerly awaiting the results of this fateful matchup. Upon the knockout happening, none other than Alexander Volkanovski can be seen screaming in triumph and happiness at this legendary moment in his comrade’s career.

Alex Pereira on UFC 287 title loss to Israel Adesanya everything is okay

Suffering his first promotional loss in the main event of UFC 287 last night, now-former undisputed middleweight champion, Alex Pereira maintains all is well despite dropping a devastating second round knockout loss to arch-enemy, Israel Adesanya.

Taking main event honors in Miami, Florida, Brazilian knockout artist, Pereira faltered in his first attempted defense of his middleweight throne against Adesanya – having clinched the title against the latter back in November of last year at UFC 281 with his own knockout victory.

However, despite starting brightly in the opening round against Adesanya in last night’s championship rematch, and even forcing the latter back to the Octagon fence with a damaging leg kick and a barrage of strikes, Pereira was countered and dropped by Adesanya in the same exchange – suffering a heavy second round KO defeat.

Alex Pereira comments on UFC 287 title loss to Israel Adesanya

Seein his short-lived championship reign coming to a definite and crashing stop, Pereira insisted that “everything is okay” despite his blemish to Adesanya.

“Just passing by to say everything is ok!” Alex Pereira posted on his official Instagram. “I want to thank my family, my team and all of you who follow me and like my work.”

“Now I just need to rest to go back and continue with the plan that are already drawn,” Alex Pereira continued. “Thank you God.”

Handing City Kickboxing striker, Adesanya three prior losses across their respective combat sports careers, it appears Pereira will not be awarded an immediate title rematch by the Nigerian-Kiwi – who claimed the rivalry between the two was now “settled”.

Furthermore, Pereira, a former middleweight and light heavyweight champion under the banner of GLORY Kickboxing, has been tipped to potentially test 205lbs waters in his Octagon return per UFC president, Dana White.

Last night’s knockout defeat for Pereira came as the Brazilian’s first since dropping a professional mixed martial arts debut loss against Ouemuel Ottoni back in 2015.
