MMA legend Anderson Silva will be boxing the undefeated YouTube star Jake Paul on October 29. In an open workout, Brazil’s ‘The Spider’ showed off some of his quick hand speed ahead of his bout against ‘The Problem Child.’
‘Anderson Silva is still fast! Legend shows off speed ahead of boxing match with Jake Paul.’
‘The Spider’ Anderson Silva has taken to professional boxing since leaving the UFC. First, he defeated the former world champion Julio César Chávez Jr. over eight rounds. The Brazilian athlete next defeated former UFC champion Tito Ortiz via first-round knockout. Now, he takes on Jake Paul.
Jake Paul is 5-0 in professional boxing, with four of his wins coming by way of knockout. ‘The Problem Child has earned wins over fighters such as former UFC champion Tyron Woodley and former Bellator Champion Ben Askren. Both Askren and Woodley were never notable for their hands, as they were wrestling-based MMA fighters.
Although, Anderson Silva has a base in Muay Thai and even had professional boxing experience before his UFC run. Once in the UFC, he dazzled audiences and opponents with his incredible hands and feet. Silva earned 12 of his UFC wins by way of KO/TKO. ‘The Spider’ will be the stiffest test of Jake Paul’s career.
Jake Paul is one of the highest-paid athletes on earth, ahead of Anderson Silva fight
The American athlete may have a background on YouTube, rather than combat sports, but it does not matter to his wallet. Despite merely being 5-0 in the boxing ring Jake Paul is one of the highest-paid athletes on earth. According to Sportico, Paul’s pay measures alongside incredible athletes such as F1 great Max Verstappen and 3x NBA All-Star Devin Book.
In 2021 alone, Paul earned 40 Million Dollars. Many people in the fight community have some resentment toward Paul due to his fast rise and success. Will Harvey the head of boxing at 258 Management, explained:
“Definitely a lot of people still see him as a gimmick. There are plenty of fighters that are far more talented than Jake that grind away for years, decades sometimes. I just think that they resent the fact that he has been able to get to the top and earn so much money so quickly.”
But Jake Paul understands that all of this success can disappear with a single loss. Paul said:
“If I’m not winning the fights and all of this shit, that doesn’t matter. So that comes first and foremost.”

Former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva revealed he has been knocked out twice during his training camp for his boxing match with Jake Paul.
This Saturday in Glendale, Arizona, Silva and Paul are set to do battle over a scheduled eight rounds. As part of his fight-week media duties, Silva spoke to MMAWeekly and would reveal a worrying fact bout his training camp.
“I’m training hard for win — I’m training with the good boxers, high-level, and five guys come to help me,” Silva said. “And the last sparring with [my sparring partner], he is knocked me out two times, and when I finish my training, I talked to my coach and even said, ‘Coach, let me tell you something, why the guys knock me out two times?’ And the coach said, ‘You need to prepare for war, and you prepare for war.’”
Silva’s coach, Luiz Carlos Dorea would respond to Silva’s comments, flatly denying that the events took place in a response to MMAFighting.
“What I can say is that didn’t happen,” he said. “Thank God we follow all the steps in training and Anderson did excellent sparring [sessions]. He’s 100 percent for the fight.” (H/T MMAFighting)

Anderson Silva Vs. Jake Paul
If what Silva is saying is true, it is not good news. Silva is now nearing 50 years old and will take on a young, big, and hard-hitting man who is 22 years his junior.
The card will also feature a super-featherweight bout between Ashton Sylva, who is signed to Paul’s ‘Most Valuable Promotions’, and Braulio Rodriguez.
Former UFC middleweight Uriah Hall will take on former NFL running back, Le’Veon Bell. Hall will make his boxing debut while Bell scored a knockout win against fellow NFL alum Adrian Peterson in his debut.
Doctor Mike, a YouTuber, will take on Chris Avila, a former Bellator and UFC fighter.

Gerges St-Pierre will not be new to the commentary team experience. The Canadian-born MMA great has worked as a commentator for Karate Combat events as well as French broadcasts of the UFC.
‘Rush‘ vacated his welterweight crown after a close decision win against Johny Hendricks. He then came back years later and took the middleweight world title from Michael Bisping via submission at UFC 217. Retiring with two lineal titles, Georges St-Pierre is considered one of the greatest of all time in MMA history.
With the announcement of Georges St-Pierre in the booth, Jake Paul on Twitter said:
“Welcome to the show legend @GeorgesStPierre – appreciate you for co-hosting.”
It is unclear who else will be on commentary aside from St-Pierre.
Anderson Silva is on a two-fight win streak in professional boxing heading into this match. ‘The Spider‘ has wins over Julio César Chávez Jr. and Tito Ortiz. Jake Paul is on a five-fight win streak in boxing with notable wins over Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.
Georges St-Pierre vs Anderson Silva? Michael Bisping weighs in
Two great UFC champions were competing alongside one another at the same time, just one weight class separated. However, despite some hype and discussions, welterweight great Georges St-Pierre and middleweight great Anderson Silva never fought in the UFC octagon.
Michael Bisping, former UFC middleweight champion, fought both during his career. Recently, ‘The Count’ broke down a ‘Rush’ vs ‘The Spider’ matchup. On his YouTube channel, he said:
“In their primes, from 2009 to 2012, fighting at middleweight, I’ve got to go with Anderson Silva … Now look, overall, I think it would have been an extremely close fight. Georges no doubt would have come in with a tremendous strategy. He would have implemented a lot of takedowns, and I think he would have a lot of control time. But as you know, 185, Anderson Silva in his prime, the knockout power, the inventiveness, the creativity that the man possessed, it was absolutely mind-blowing… And I think maybe somewhere around Round 3, Round 4, in a fight that Anderson Silva would have been losing, Georges would’ve come in for a takedown and he would’ve walked into a knee, an elbow, a punch, a kick, something, and I do think that Anderson Silva would’ve been victorious. There it is. In their primes, I think Anderson might have got the job done.”
He explained that Georges St-Pierre would have controlled most of the match before Silva would have found an opening to get the knockout win. Bisping also added that it was an honor to have shared the octagon with both of these men. He continued:
“I am so proud to have shared the Octagon with both of these people. Both absolute legends from the sport, both gentlemen, and both just two of the nicest guy that you could ever meet.”
