Andrei Arlovski will face a stern test in his next outing.

As per MMA Fighting, the former UFC heavyweight champion is set to take on rising prospect Tanner Boser on the upcoming October 3 show.

As of now, there is no official confirmation of the fight or a location for the event either. The news was first reported by TSN.

Arlovski will be looking to establish another winning streak as he is coming off a unanimous decision win over Philipe Lins at UFC Jacksonville back in May. He was previously knocked out by Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC 244 last November.

Boser, meanwhile, has been very active the last few months with back-to-back TKO wins over Lins in June and Raphael Pessoa last month. In total, the 29-year-old Canadian is 3-1 with the UFC as he will now look to earn the biggest win of his career over a legend in Arlovski.

A women’s bantamweight bout between Germaine de Randamie and Julianna Pena is also slated for the October 3 card. However, there is no official word on what fight will be headlining the event as of now.

Heavyweight legend Andrei Arlovski will face off against UFC debutant Philipe Lins on May 13 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Arlovski took to social media on Monday to announce he’s the latest addition to the card, he wrote the following alongside a photo of his bout agreement.

“So, looks like I was right, AGAIN ! @danawhite @firstroundmgmt working hard to get fighters back to ‘work’ )) I’m super pumped !!!”

The 41-year-old Arlovski is hoping to get back to winning ways after falling short against rising star Jairzinho Rozenstruik last time out. He suffered a quick stoppage defeat at the hands of the unbeaten heavyweight who needed less than 30 seconds to improve his record.

Lins will be making his UFC debut and fighting for the first time since 2018 on May 16. The 34-year-old Brazilian was last seen winning the PFL heavyweight tournament stopping Josh Copeland to do so. His current win streak stands at four in a row and includes a win over former UFC heavyweight Jared Rosholt.

Light-heavyweight contender Anthony Smith will square off against Glover Teixeira in the main event on May 13. The pair were originally supposed to fight at UFC Lincoln. The card was unfortunately cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but they will now be able to get it in just a few weeks’ time.

Smith will be looking to work his way back into title contention after falling short in his 205lb title fight against Jon Jones. Last time out he beat long-time contender Alexander Gustafsson and now has the chance to add another top fighter to his list. Despite being 40-years-old Teixeria is still a force to be reckoned with at light-heavyweight. He is riding a three-fight win streak and will be hoping to earn another title shot himself by taking out one of the divisions best.

Andrei Arlovski says he didn’t take Jairzinho Rozenstruik seriously and he paid the price.

Back at UFC 244, the former UFC heavyweight champion in Arlovski was taking on Rozenstruik in just his third UFC fight. There, he suffered a first-round knockout loss. For Arlovski, he says the loss nearly cost him his UFC career.

“Rozenstruik right now is training at American Top Team and he’s sparring behind the curtains. But my buddy who spars with him whooped his ass. And, he makes me feel like (expletive) because I didn’t take that fight serious and I paid for it,” Arlovski said this past Saturday while a guest fighter at UFC Norfolk (via MMA Junkie). “It was 29 seconds. I have no clue how he beat (Alistair) Overeem in the fifth round. So I guess he’s going to fight (Francis) Ngannou right now, and I don’t know what’s going to happen.

“It’s another lesson for me: I have to take my opponent seriously.”

Now, at UFC Oklahoma City, Arlovski is set to fight Philipe Lins. The former champ says he’s now disciplined and will take his opponents seriously.

“I didn’t follow my game plan (against Rozenstruik), first of all. Secondly, I wasn’t that disciplined during the fight week,” Arlovski said. “I went to the restaurant and I had a nice dinner and I told all my coaches, ‘Listen, five more minutes and we’re going back to the restaurant.’ (Expletive) happens, you know. Thank God I still fight and I’m still in the UFC. I’m already three months with not even a glass of wine or beer, and I chose again what’s more important for me. I just have to remind myself why I’m doing this.”

Whether or not this newfound discipline and taking his opponents seriously will benefit Andrei Arlovski is to be seen.
