Aljamain Sterling

Aljamain Sterling found himself in some hot water with fans heading into arguably the biggest fight of his UFC career on Saturday. ‘Funk Master’ is scheduled to meet former two-time bantamweight titleholder TJ Dillashaw in the co-main event of UFC 280. Emanating from Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, Aljamain Sterling arrived ahead of his bout as most fighters do to acclimate to the weather and time difference. While there, Sterling also met up with some fellow combat sports stars including controversial kickboxer Andrew Tate.

Known for his disgusting anti-woman agenda on various social media platforms, Tate was also in Abu Dhabi with his twin brother Tristan in tow. The two brothers met up with Aljamain Sterling and posed for pictures which were posted by the UFC bantamweight champion with the caption:

“Top G’s never die. Good chopping it up with you fellas.”

Andrew Tate is average at best in the world of professional kickboxing, but he made a name for himself with his misogynistic views and horrifying comments toward women, including a 2017 tweet where he said that women who put themself “in a position to be raped” must “bare some responsibility.” That’s just the tip of the iceberg for the man that has already been banned from multiple social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter. Despite that, Tate has continued to be a smashing success on social media, amassing more than 12 billion views on Tik Tok.

Needless to say, fans did not take kindly to Aljamain Sterling chumming it up with such a depraved human being. Fans immediately called out the UFC champ. ‘Funk Master’ seemingly just dug the hole deeper as he attempted to justify Tate’s words and his own association with the nefarious social media star.

During the UFC 280 media event on Wednesday, Aljamain Sterling was asked about his association with Tate and his engagement with fans on Twitter after posting the images of the two together in Abu Dhabi.

“So I quote-tweeted somebody that said what everybody else was saying that they were coming down on me for and I was agreeing with the tweet,” Sterling said. “And I said, ‘You’re right. I 100% agree with you that Andrew Tate should not ever say it is the responsibility of a victim. So people that were coming at me were completely wrong and I was trying to explain that you misread the tweet and then they would show me the same tweet and I would say you’re not understanding what I’m saying. You’re misreading the tweet because I’m quoting and I’m agreeing. I am on your side.

“I have 14-plus sisters. I love my mom. I would never tell my mom that if anything like that happened to them that ‘It’s your fault.’ That’s just the craziest thing to ever say to anybody. That’s like, if you’re in the hood, and you’re walking down a nice neighborhood or something and you’re a person of color and you get shot because you have a hoodie on that I’m telling you it’s your fault because you’re walking down the street. That doesn’t even make any sense. Why would I ever blame the victim? It’s the person that’s not taking the time to understand.”

While Aljamain Sterling never once discussed Andrew Tate directly, ‘Funk Master’ did make it clear that he does not condone victim-blaming.

“The clarity on that is I never victim-blamed anybody,” Sterling continued. “I think that’s the craziest thing to even make an assumption like that and if you don’t understand what I said, ask me to clarify, don’t start jumping the gun and start throwing labels and sh*t like that.

“I think people are really crazy and I think that’s the problem with the world today. We are so quick to condemn people instead of actually giving people a chance to reason and analyze what people are saying versus assuming and just making a judgment and being completely wrong. That’s just the world that we live in today. I don’t think it’s going to change anytime soon. With that said, hopefully T.J. Dillashaw moves the needle this weekend at UFC 280.”

Unfortunately, Andrew Tate has proven to be popular amongst other professional fighters. Aside from appearing with Aljamain Sterling, Tate has also met up with new welterweight champion Leon Edwards and fan favorite ‘Sugar’ Sean O’Malley.

Andrew Tate has sent an invitation to fan-favorite Sean O’Malley and welcomes him to Romania to undergo an Eastern Europe road trip following his bout at UFC 280.

O’Malley is set to face the biggest test of his career to date in Petr Yan this Saturday at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. But, with the swag, confidence and invincible aura that the rising bantamweight star possesses, you’d think it’s an average sparring session.

It’s been well documented that O’Malley has been having a blast in Abu Dhabi, and perhaps his trip to the United Arab Emirates was topped off with a visit from the controversial social media star that is Andrew Tate.

Tate has been in Dubai for several weeks and has been pictured alongside numerous UFC athletes, such as welterweight champion Leon Edwards and current bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling.

With flashy cars, unique views, and truckloads of cash, Andrew Tate and Sean O’Malley have a lot in common, which is more than likely why the former kick-boxer invited O’Malley to his home in Romania to kickstart their Eastern Europe tour.

“You guys need to come to Eastern Europe with me,” Tate said to O’Malley and Tim Welch. “We need to do a tour when you guys have got like a month of fighting, we’ll start in Romania, we all take supercars and drive through all of it, all the way up to Poland.

“We do a three- or four-hour drive, stay in a city, do all of it, then another three- or four-hour drive, stay in another city and we’ll be able to do all of it.” Welch replies asking if they can “slay p***” along the way. Tate furthers stating, “basically, yes,” before making a joke, “we can go to Church and be good men of God, of course, ask for forgiveness in between.”

UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling met up with Andrew and Tristan Tate ahead of his bout at UFC 280.

Sterling is set to defend his 135lb title next Saturday in Abu Dhabi in the co-main event of UFC 280 against T.J. Dillashaw. To get acclimatised to the heat and the time difference, athletes tend to go out a couple of weeks early and doing so also allows the fighters to enjoy the luxuries of Dubai.

‘Funk Master’ would post to his twitter him pictured with controversial internet sensation Andrew Tate and his more reserved but just as opinionated brother Tristan Tate.

“Top g’s never die!” Sterling tweeted. “Good chopping it up with you fellas.”

The Tate’s garnered worldwide attention earlier this year after their internet campaign saw their controversial videos reach millions of people. Both have come under heavy scrutiny due people deeming their language and beliefs to be misogynistic and their message, often aimed at young men, regarded as harmful.

The older and more infamous brother, Andrew, was banned from all major social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Aljamain Sterling backlash

It wouldn’t surprise you that Sterling would catch some heat from fans, with many replying to him criticising him for supporting the Tate’s.

“You know that shit is fake right? Sterling said. “The information is literally out there or y’all can keep listening to the painted narrative that’s much easier to digest. I dug into and was relieved that they aren’t actually shit people. And no, not everything they’ve said, I agree with.”

“I appreciate the words. I don’t live by his moniker, but I understand some things he gets at and understand how some things are out of context in short format clips. That said, I don’t agree w/everything from all people I’ve met or spoken with nor do I have time to vet everything.”

Cardi B Jake Shields Andrew Tate

While not a usual topic of discussion in the MMA world, Cardi B is making waves due to her response to insults by former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields on Twitter.

Shields, a veteran of major MMA promotions like the UFC, PFL, and Strikeforce, is known for being outspoken. His Twitter tirade turned to that of misogynist Andrew Tate getting banned from social media, and he didn’t hold back when sharing his opinion.

“People are freaking out about young boys looking up to Andrew Tate but totally fine with young girls looking up to Cardi B and the Kardashians,” Jake Shields began. “Tate’s main message is stop being lazy and making excuses and go work hard and get in shape and make money.”

“Cardi’s is go do drugs,” Shields continued. “F*** random men and go through life as a brain-dead moron.”

Harsh words, and it’s worth noting that Jake Shields came under heavy fire for supporting Andrew Tate. A man who is a self-confessed “misogynist” with some sickening views on women. However, for some reason, Shields defends the man. Going so far as to top off his tirade with a final attempt at defense on Tate’s behalf. “Dozens of rapers have songs glorifying murder,” He said. “But Andrew Tate’s the biggest problem.”

Cardi B claps back at Jake Shields

In a now-deleted tweet, the New York City native would share her thoughts on the situation, and respond to the former Strikeforce champion. “I’m married,” the rapper said. “I don’t smoke weed, I don’t pop pills, I don’t do coke, I’m a mom of 2 and I do a lot of charity work.”

“…But hey,” she continued. “Let me put Cardi into it to defend a man who defends misogyny and rape.”

As far as Andrew Tate goes, he’s been quoted to have said women are property, and similar to dogs. “If I have responsibility over her, then I must have a degree of authority,” Tate said in a Youtube video, according to BBC News. “You can’t be responsible for a dog if it doesn’t obey you,” he concluded.

Unsurprisingly, with poor views such as those, Tate has come under fire seemingly worldwide, a prime factor that lead to his social media accounts being banned.

The misogynistic views of Tate are definitely not shared by anyone here at LowKick MMA, and we encourage everybody to treat people fairly regardless of race or gender.

What’s your take on the situation?

Andrew Tate reportedly broke a UFC middleweight’s ribs with a kick in a sparring session.

Tate has been making his rounds on the internet and has quickly become a sensation, almost overnight seemingly. Tate was also a former professional kickboxer, and sported a very good record of 43-9. Tate also competed in two MMA matches, one amateur and one professional, ending up with a record of 2-0. Both matches came back in 2010.

In his one bout, he beat Luke Barnatt, who would end up fighting in the UFC from 2013-2015. Tate took home the win via unanimous decision and the two would later spar as well, while Barnatt was in the UFC.

Andrew Tate threw a nasty side kick at Barnatt, dropping him to the canvas

Both fighters were sparring hard and before Tate had dropped him with the kick, he also landed a hard hook. The two exchanged a quick glove tap, as it has seemed as if Tate wasn’t trying to hurt his sparring partner.

The sidekick was thunderous, and caused Barnatt to tumble backwards, groaning in pain. It would be reported later that the kick broke a few of Barnatt’s ribs.

Tate’s name has been tossed around as Jake Paul’s next potential boxing match. The two have yet to have preliminary talks, but Tate wouldn’t rule out the possibility. Both Paul and Tate are two huge names on the internet at this time, whether you love or despise them both.

Whether a fight between the two would bring enough eyeballs is another story, as Dana White had claimed that Paul’s last fight was cancelled due to the low gate at MSG.
