Israel Adesanya is one of the best pure strikers the UFC has to offer at the moment.

“The Last Stylebender” is so confident in his abilities, he isn’t afraid to mix it up with anyone inside the cage – at any weight class.

Recently, some old sparring footage has emerged of Adesanya before he signed with the UFC. In it, he can be seen sparring former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Anthony “Rumble” Johnson for his then-scheduled title fight with Jon Jones.

Check that out here:

Adesanya is preparing to bounce from one huge fight to another. He defeated legendary former middleweight champ Anderson Silva in his last outing in February. Now, he’ll co-headline UFC 236 this weekend (Sat. April 13, 2019) against Kelvin Gastelum. The two will throw down for the interim UFC middleweight championship.

The winner will move on to unify their titles with Robert Whittaker, who has been kept out of action due to a string of health issues. Adesanya is undefeated in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. He has earned wins over Silva, Derek Brunson, and Brad Tavares.

As for Gastelum, he’s currently on a two-fight win streak after defeating Michael Bisping and Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Now, they’ll compete in the biggest fight of their respective careers Saturday night, with a chance to go on and unify the middleweight titles against one of the better strikers in the division.

Judging from this video, Adesanya isn’t scared to scrap with anyone.

Anthony “Rumble” Johnson might be retired from mixed martial arts (MMA) competition for the time being, but he can’t escape questions about a possible heavyweight clash with Jon Jones.

Now that Johnson has bulked up during his time away from the cage, seeing him clash with Jones at heavyweight has become a dream fight for MMA fans. Recently, Johnson – who is now a promotional consultant for Bare Knuckle FC – was asked about Jones during a BKFC media event.

When asked about Jones’ ability inside the Octagon, Johnson revealed that he can’t say he gets excited when Jones fights (via MMA Junkie):

“I’ve always been a fan of combat sports, no matter what,” Johnson said. “Watching Jon fight, it’s always amazing because he’s such a dominant force. Do I get excited watching Jon fight? I can’t say I do. But I like watching him fight. The guy’s done so many amazing things in the octagon.”

Fight At Heavyweight?

Johnson continued on that he of course wanted to fight Jones, but he doesn’t want to cut any weight:

“I know where you’re going with this whole thing, and if it happens, it happens. But of course, I want it to happen at heavyweight, that way we can both be fat and happy and not have to worry about losing weight, and just go out there and fight.

“But of course, the price has to be right. You can’t have a fight that was supposed to be four years ago and try to give you what they give you for a title fight. I’m like, no.”

Jones currently reigns as the light heavyweight champion of the UFC. But with just a few deserving prospects sticking out for title opportunities, “Bones” might be forced to make the move up to heavyweight soon.

If money fights are anywhere on Jones’ radar, he might want to give the most feared puncher the light heavyweight division has ever seen some consideration.

Legendary but troubled former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is awaiting the resolution of his failed USADA drug test in connection with his UFC 214 knockout victory over rival Daniel Cormier.

Jones has teased a pending return on social media quite often lately, making fans believe that a pending “Bones” fight could be on the horizon much sooner than his sordid history with performance-enhancing drugs would suggest.

That’s all speculation at this point, however, as Jones’ punishment could absolutely reach as high as four years because it’s his second offense. He’s also had repeated trouble with both cocaine and drinking and driving, making any return for “Bones” tentative speculation at the very best.

It won’t stop Jones from hoping for the best, of course, and in anticipation of his umpteenth comeback, he’s seemingly making more public appearances. Such was the case at this weekend’s Gatt Supplements expo in Las Vegas this weekend. There, Jones came face-to-face with an opponent he missed out on fighting when he was champion in two-time title contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson:

Johnson retired from mixed martial arts after his second loss to Cormier at April 2017’s UFC 210. He’s since been seen becoming more focused on bodybuilding, and the results are not only jaw-dropping but also enough to prompt many to speculate that ‘Rumble’s’ been on some “supplements” of his own.

He isn’t being tested by USADA like Jones is, even if they haven’t exactly been knocking his door down this year. Regardless, the controversial great has an uncanny knack to come back from peril that would seemingly damn most other fighters. There was even a rumor that USADA had accepted a bribe to resolve “Bones’” case.

Let’s just hope we find out what will happen to Jones before a lengthy suspension period ends.
