Nate Diaz picked up a massive win last night (Sat. August 17, 2019) in the UFC 241 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event.

Diaz outclassed Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, a former lightweight champion, in their welterweight meeting. After the fight, Diaz shook things up by calling out fellow fan-favorite Jorge Masvidal. Speaking on the ESPN+ post-fight show, Diaz spoke to Chael Sonnen, Jon Anik, and Henry Cejudo.

During their conversation, Diaz got to watch the highlights from his decision win over Pettis. His reaction was absolutely priceless. Check it out below.

Diaz ended a three-year layoff with his return against Pettis. Despite a slow start, he was able to get into the swing of things in the second half of the first round, getting the fight to the ground and showing off his seasoned grappling skills. Throughout the fight, Diaz’s volume and jiu-jitsu proved to present Pettis with several issues.

When it was all said and done, Diaz took home the unanimous decision win on the judges’ scorecards. Now the stage is set for a showdown with “Gamebred.” It will be interesting to see if that bout, which is undoubtedly a fight fans are clamoring to see, comes to fruition.

“Showtime” co-main evented a great night of fights from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California against Nate Diaz. Despite a promising start, Diaz began to outclass Pettis towards the second half of the first round and throughout. The Stockton slugger nearly finished the fight at one point, landing some nice ground-and-pound, and coming close to locking in a few submissions.

However, Pettis was able to survive to the scorecards, where he lost via unanimous decision. Pettis was transported to the hospital after the event. He took to Instagram and shared a photo of his foot, which looked to be in bad shape. He captioned it with, “@natediaz209 you have a hard ass head homie lol.”

It remains to be seen what’s next for Diaz. After his win, he called out fellow welterweight star and fan-favorite Jorge Masvidal for a scrap. Diaz has nothing but respect for “Gamebred,” and recognizes him as a top fighter, which is exactly why he wants to fight the Floridian next.

Nate Diaz scared a lot of fight fans this week when he sparked up a blunt during his UFC 241 open workouts.

Of course, it was later revealed the substance Diaz was smoking did not contain any THC, which is what’s prohibited for fighters while in-competition. However, even if he did test positive for THC, it wouldn’t cancel the fight. Diaz would’ve simply had to pay a fine, per ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Speaking to TMZ Sports recently, Diaz’s UFC 241 opponent, Anthony Pettis, was asked about Diaz smoking during his open workout. When asked if he’d be down to smoke with Diaz after their fight, Pettis responded with a “F*ck yeah.” (via BJPenn.com)

“F*ck yeah, hell yeah,” Pettis said. “Honestly, after this fight is done and there’s no beef, I’m going to settle it in the Octagon and afterward if we spark one up, we spark one up.”

When asked about Diaz smoking during his open workout, Pettis admitted he also smokes weed when he’s not in competition. He also isn’t worried about there being any repercussions, as he doesn’t believe Diaz was smoking anything with THC.

“That’s dope, I support that,” Pettis said. “I smoke weed too, but I can’t smoke with the fight coming up. I’m pretty sure he was smoking CBD since we have to get drug tested on Saturday.”

However, just because Pettis is willing to smoke with Diaz after their fight, doesn’t mean they’re cool with each other right now. There’s still a beef to be squashed, and once that’s done, he can put everything behind him.

“No, we’re not cool. Me and Nate are not cool,” Pettis said. “We never had any kind of relationship other than him throwing his middle fingers up at me. So if you ask me, I’m assuming we have a problem.

“But now after this fight unfolds, there’s no real problem. I feel like he’s jealous of where I was at in my career and where he was at in his career. He had the Conor McGregor fight, got his income up, got his followers up, and now he’s content.”

What do you think about Pettis saying he’s down to smoke some weed with Diaz after their fight?

Ben Askren’s first career defeat in mixed martial arts (MMA) competition came at the hands of Jorge Masvidal.

The pair met in one of the most highly-anticipated fights of the year at UFC 239. Masvidal, knowing Askren’s wrestling-heavy style meant he’d come in on an immediate takedown attempt, shot in with a flying knee. The knee connected flush on Askren’s skull, immediately rendering him unconscious.

Masvidal is now the record-holder for fastest knockout in UFC history with five seconds. Tonight (Sat. August 17, 2019) UFC 241 goes down from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. In the co-main event, Askren’s teammate, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis, takes on Nate Diaz. On one of the UFC’s episodes of “Embedded,” Pettis is seen speaking to Yoel Romero, a teammate of Masvidal.

Pettis asks Romero how Masvidal is doing, and said he was “happy” for his big KO win over Askren, even though “Funky” is his teammate. Bellator fighter Dillon Danis posted the clip on Twitter, tagging Askren, saying he needs new friends.

Askren responded by saying he agrees with Danis, calling Pettis’ comments “unacceptable.” He also said he doesn’t need any “fake friends.”

“I agree Dillon this is unacceptable. @Showtimepettis and I aren’t bffs but I thought we had a respect and kinship where feelings and statements like this did not happen. I hope Anthony can clear this up and make his feelings transparent. I don’t need fake friends.”
