Tonight at UFC on Versus The UFC’s tallest heavyweight took on one of its shortest.
Stefan Struve, who stands 6’11, caught Pat Barry in a triangle choke midway through the second round.
Barry tried to slam Struve much like Quinton “Rampage” Jackson did to Ricardo Arona in Pride, but Struve held on and forced Berry to tap.
The win is Struve’s 15th by submission.
Here’s a look at some of the other submission experts in the heavyweight division.

In the co-main event of UFC 135, Matt Hughes was knocked out by Josh Koscheck at the end of round 1.
While basically everyone and their mother expected Hughes to lose his 54th professional fight, some fans held out hope that the former welterweight king could at least be competitive.
Despite no such luck, Hughes said in the post-fight interview that he would ask the UFC “to put me up on a shelf,” but he is not retiring.
Hughes, already a UFC Hall of Famer, need to call it quits after being knocked out in his past two fights, and losing four of his past seven.
If Hughes decides otherwise, White may need to “Chuck Liddell” him into retirement, or convince him that the risk is not worth the reward after several devastating losses.
Here are a few other fighters who could benefit from the Chuck Liddell treatment.

Coming off a successful knockout over Brendan Schaub at UFC 134, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will now look to face Frank Mir in a rematch of their first bout from UFC 92. Claiming to have been suffering from a staph infection that evening, Nogueira did not look like himself and ultimately lost to Mir.
The loss still haunts the Brazilian to this day, which is why he specifically requested a rematch with the former UFC heavyweight champion. Reflecting on the loss, Nogueira said he feels motivated to pick up the victory over Mir when they meet at UFC 140.
“It’s a good fight. I’m in a row after this last win, I’ll be a lot motivated,” Nogueira told Tatame magazine.
Motivation has been the key as to what’s been pursuing Nogueira to continue his career. His loss to Mir certainly brought up questions of retirement and was a setback in the career of “Minotauro.” Nogueira would go on to win one more fight in his next two bouts, one of which saw him finished in devastating fashion by Cain Velasquez at UFC 110.
However, it’s his underwhelming performance against Mir that currently sees Nogueira at a crossroad in his legendary career, though Nogueira doesn’t fault Mir for earning the victory.
“He was better, I couldn’t impose my game and find the right distance to play,” he said. “He did good, surprised me, but this defeat motivates me to train and do different things so I can beat this guy up.”
This time around, Nogueira said he will not hesitate to stand with Mir, though he would like to utilize his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, an area where he would feel the most comfortable in beating his opponent.
“There’s many to do before fighting on the ground,” he said, “and I want to be ready for anything, and that includes trading punches. I’ll be even better then.”

UFC 140 is starting to look a lot like Christmas for Canadian MMA fans as a few more of our favorite fighters were added and confirmed for the December 10th card at the Air Canada Center in Toronto.
It is extremely exciting to see rising star Rory MacDonald added to the card, although I hoped for a bigger step up for “Ares.” He will be facing Brian Ebersole.
Montreal’s John Makdessi is healthy and set to face Dennis Hallman and Mississauga veteran Claude Patrick gets a date with Rich Attonito.
Other Canadians rumoured and likely to be on the card are Mark Hominick, Mark Bocek and Krzysztof Soszynski.
Two incredible main card bouts have been verbally confirmed with Tito Ortiz vs. Rogerio Nogueira and Frank Mir vs. Minotauro Nogueira II.
I had a chance to speak to some jiu-jitsu fighters and fans at the Bravado BJJ Open this past weekend about who they would like to see at UFC 140 and you can watch it on “The Submission,” my web cast attached with this article.
Fights Confirmed for UFC 140:
Notables:
Tito Ortiz vs. Rogerio Nogueira (verbal agreement)
Frank Mir vs. Minotauro Nogueira (verbal agreement)
Canadians:
Rory MacDonald vs. Brian Ebersole
John Makdessi vs. Dennis Hallman
Claude Patrick vs. Rich Attonito
Mitch Clarke vs. John Cholish

According toa press release from UFC.com, Tito Ortiz and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira are set to meet at UFC 140 in Toronto. Both parties have verbally agreed to fight.
Ortiz has endured an emotional year thus far after picking up a win against Ryan Bader at UFC 132, before losing to Rashad Evans at UFC 133. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is prepared to make his third appearance inside the Octagon this year.
Nogueira is coming off consecutive losses to Ryan Bader, and most recently, Phil Davis at UFC Fight Night 24 in March. His UFC record currently stands at 2-2. Nogueira and Ortiz were originally expected to meet that night before Ortiz was forced to pull out of the event due to injury.
UFC 140 is scheduled for December 10, live from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario. In addition to this bout, the card is expected to feature a welterweight bout between Canadian prospect Rory McDonald and Brian Ebersole, as well as a rematch between heavyweight contenders Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir.

This list is not going to be based on a “who beat whom three years ago” which ends up with the same top five fighters as everyone always sees.
I’m going to factor in every angle and include reasoning for each fighter’s rank. These rankings also do not reflect whom I think would win head-to-head in a matchup, for the most part.
So sit back, relax, break out that big tub of buttery popcorn, and get your fingers ready to type up some disagreement comments!
