Despite suffering two separate knockout losses in both professional mixed martial arts and kickboxing in the last two months, UFC alum, Bigfoot Silva is set to return to kickboxing against the 102-9-1 talent, Azerbaijan striker, Zabit Samedov under the banner of MixFight Championship.

Bigfoot Silva, an alum of the UFC, Cage Warriors, Strikeforce, EliteXC, and Fight Nights Global to name a few, suffered a second round knockout loss to Vlacheslav Datsik just earlier this month, which followed a June knockout defeat against Oleg Popov in his mixed martial arts return.

Boasting an 0-2 kickboxing record to go with a faltering mixed martial arts record of 19-14(1), Silva has suffered a string of seven straight losses, dropping six knockout defeats in that run to boot.

Despite calls for the veteran Brasilia native to finally hang up his gloves from professional combat sports amid a slew of recent knockout losses and run of form, Silva, as per an initial report from MMA Junkie reporter, Nolan King – will return to kickboxing against the Muay Thai and kickboxing ace, Samedov.

Bigfoot Silva is without a victory in the last seven years across combat sports

Without a professional victory since UFC 190 back in 2015, Silva defeated the now-retired, Soa Palelei, before exiting the UFC after a TKO defeat of his own against fellow veteran, Mark Hunt.

Across the course of his storied professional career, Silva has defeated the likes of Ricco Rodriguez, Andrei Arlovski, Fedor Emelianenko, Travis Browne, and Alistair Overeem.

Silva’s former manager and agent, Alex Davis addressed his former clients run of recent losses, explaining how he tried everything in order to convince the Brazilian to retire from combat sports.

“You cannot defend a man from his own self,” Alex Davis tweeted. “I did my very best. The plan was for him (Bigfoot Silva) to stop fighting 8 KO’s ago. He made the $. I let go at that point, could not be a part of this. But he always goes in with a big heart and never reminisces on a loss.”

Antonio Silva suffers a knockout in a boxing match

Less than two weeks ago, “Bigfoot” returned to action in a different sport this time. He took on Vyacheslav Datsik in a Friday boxing match in Russia and was handily dispatched once again, in round two.

Silva was unable to present a real threat to Datsik, who bullied his way to victory from the start. Towards the end of the first round, Datsik would drop Silva with a punch that may have landed after the bell. He went to work right away in the next round and replicated the same outcome as the Brazilian’s last fight, a knockout in the second.

A look at Vyacheslav Datsik’s disturbing past

Datsik gained notoriety for his criminal behavior and neo-Nazi beliefs. He conducted vigilante raids on brothels in his home country of Russia and barely avoided charges due to being determined a schizophrenic.

Following his transfer to a low-security psychiatric clinic in July 2010, the self-proclaimed “Red Tarzan” managed to escape the facility in August 2010 to Norway. While sporting Nazi symbols, Datsik told the reporters that he was “not a nationalist, but a racist.

A Norwegian police physician submitted a report based on his conversations with Datsik and analysis of the available documents. He concluded that Datsik did not have a serious mental disease whereas Datsik’s lawyers stated that Norwegian authorities must allow their client to remain in the country claiming that Russian authorities made up the psychiatric diagnosis.

Bigfoot Silva Discussed Personal Challenges That Affected His Work in The Cage

In 2021, Antonio Silva spoke with AG Fight regarding some personal and professional problems he had been working through. In the interview, Bigfoot appeared confident that the worst was behind him and that he could get his career back on track.

“(The problem) was here (in the head). From 2014 onwards, my life went downhill, not only in my professional life but also in my personal life. Personal things I did that influenced my professional life. At the time I thought I was right, I didn’t see the error and this is a snowball. You reap what you sow. I made a big change. I wish I had this head and this personal life for years. Surely now it is a ‘Pezão’ from ten years ago that will return. I had to fall several times to see where I went wrong. Falling is important, but the most important thing is to get up and, thank God, I managed.”

With a record of 1-10-1 in his last 12 contests, many are calling for Bigfoot Silva to retire from the sport.

Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva

Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva is back in the cage but is disputing the TKO stoppage loss in his return fight.

Silva recently returned to MMA under the Megdan Fighting promotion out of Serbia. In the main event of Megdan Fighting 9, Silva faced Quentin Domingos, an up-and-coming fighter from Portugal. The fight was Silva’s first since a defeat at the hands of Vitaly Minakov at Fight Nights Global 68 back in June 2017.

Silva and Domingos entered the second round exchanging shots. As Silva was trying to defend a flurry from Domingos, he fell to the ground. The referee stopped the fight 28 seconds into the round, as Silva was trying to get back on his feet.

Silva immediately protested and then took to social media to voice his complaints.

“Why the refer to stop the fight? @megdan.fighting … You train for months, give up many things like food, fun and sometimes even family to get 100% in a fight, then a referee comes along and spoils all the hard work you did every day , losing or winning is part of it but unfortunately some people do not know or understand the sport they are part of… They sent me this video to give me an idea that there was no reason for the referee to stop the fight…#megdanfighting”

From the two videos posted to Silva’s Instagram and a fan’s Twitter, Silva attempted to defend and get back up, supporting his claim that the stoppage was premature.

Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva needs a win.

It’s understandable why Silva wants this decision reviewed and hopefully overturned. This decision places him on an eight-fight skid, with eleven losses in his last twelve fights. Silva’s only victory over the previous eight years was a TKO over Soa Palelei at UFC 190 in 2015.

Do you think that the referee stopped Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva’s return prematurely?

‘Bigfoot’ Silva Returning To MMA For First Time Since 2017

One must question why Silva, 40, is continuing to compete.

Silva hasn’t competed in MMA since suffering a knockout loss to Vitaly Minakov at a Fight Nights Global event back in June 2017. That setback put him on a five-fight losing streak with just one win in his previous 10 outings overall. All his setbacks in that run have come by way of knockout or TKO.

The Brazilian would go on to compete in kickboxing in October 2017 and most recently, bareknuckle boxing in October last year. However, both fights — against Rico Verhoeven and Gabriel Gonzaga respectively — saw him lose via early knockout.

Regardless, Silva will be back soon as he faces Martin who is not only 14 years his junior, but is 9-1 and currently on a five-fight winning streak.
