UFC lightweight superstar Arman Tsarukyan is now hungry for a rematch with the current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 294.

Tsarukyan was last seen in action fighting at UFC Vegas 75 less than two weeks ago. Tsarukyan would call out Makhavhev in his post-fight interview and would exit the cage with another impressive finish on his resume. He was leaving the arena with a clear statement made that he is indeed ready for title contention after his terrific performance against Joaquim Silva.

MMA journalist James Lynch had the time to catch up with Tsarukyan after the madness that was UFC Vegas 55 on behalf of LowKick MMA. In their interview, ‘Ahalkalakets’ described just how badly he wanted the rematch with Makhachev.

“That fight makes sense,” Tsarukyan told Lynch. “I think just me (only I) can beat him in this division. It’s my opinion ya know. I wanna get that fight and that’s why I gotta call him (out) all the time after fights.”

“It’s like almost (a) dream fight for me now,” Arman Tsarukyan continued. “All of my focus is to be a champion. That’s why I called him out. And we’ll see, maybe next year we’re gonna fight with each other. And, I want to see my improvements. I want to see my skills. And that fight, I think that’s the most competitive fight for me.”

When asked about how the rematch would go, Tsarukyan was very confident about his improvement. He pretty much explained how in his opinion, he beats Makhachev in every aspect. He mentioned how some fans believe Makhachev will dominate him and reign victorious over him once more, but Tsarukyan isn’t very worried. He simply said everybody is entitled to their own opinions, and he hopes to be able to prove himself and test his abilities against the UFC lightweight champion in what would be an epic rematch.

UFC lightweight Arman Tsarukyan sends message to Islam Makhachev following n his victory at UFC Fight night Vegas this past weekend.

At just 26-years-old, Tsarukyan is one of lightweight’s best talents and has been tipped for success since entering the promotion. Fantastic grappling, nice kicking game and just a generally solid all-round fighter, Tsarukyan has supposedly struggled to get big name opponents. This past weekend ‘Ahalkalakets’ had to settle for unranked Joaquim Silva, coming in as a -1100 favrioute and ultimately stopping Silva in the third round.

Tsarukyan seems desperate for a big fight, and following his win called out pretty much everyone who is ranked in front of him.

Arman Tsarukyan eyes Islam Makhachev rematch

No ranked No.8, Tsarukyan is potentially just two or three wins away from a title fight, and with current form even in a over year it could very likely come against reigning 155lb ruler, Makhachev.

Tsarukyan and Makhachev have squared off before, fighting in April of 2019, which was the Arminaian’s UFC debut. While in a losing effort, Tsarukyan fought well and made it a competitive scrap, with many believing that he was Makhachev’s toughest test before coming champion.

Now a rematch is within spitting distance and Tsarukyan is fired up for it.

Definitely I have a message (for Makhachev). Islam, I’m coming, I’m coming for you,” Tsarukyan said to Full Send MMA. “The rematch definitely goes good. I think fight of the year, maybe, because my skills is good, his skills is good. If I’m gonna have a full training camp, I’m gonna stop him because I believe in myself.”

After his impressive victory at UFC Vegas 75, Arman Tsarukyan has his eyes set on the upper echelon of the UFC’s lightweight division. Tsarukyan has now made his intentions clear that if Conor McGregor does not return in 2023, Tsarukyan would be more than happy to face Michael Chandler.

On a two-fight win streak, Tsarukyan is proving that he’s a sensational fighter who deserves to be in the running for title contention. He defeated Joaquim Silva Saturday night at UFC Vegas 77 and finished the man in a brutal, dominant display. Now looking nowhere but up, Tsarukyan is hoping he gets his long-awaited opportunity to face somebody in the infamous top 5 of the lightweight division.

Considered one of the most underrated athletes in the UFC’s lightweight division, Arman Tsarukyan holds a lofty record of 20-3 and is 7-2 in the UFC. His only UFC losses come from fighters who are known to be some of the greatest talents in the world today, such as the lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and the Polish nightmare Mateusz Gamrot.

Arman Tsarukyan is ready to break into the top 5, now looking for an elusive Michael Chandler fight

While Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor are theoretically supposed to fight after the remainder of TUF 31 airs, it is looking more unlikely by the day that such a thing will actually happen. Conor McGregor has allegedly missed the cutoff date to re-enter the USADA testing pool and still fight in 2023, and also, recent legal allegations stemming from antics at a Miami Heat game will likely see the Irish superstar benched for the rest of the year.

On Twitter, Arman Tsarukyan made it very clear that he’d love to fight Chandler if McGregor no-calls no-shows in 2023. While it’s pretty unlikely Chandler and the UFC will accept his offer, anything can happen and it would be an absolute banger of a fight.

On Saturday night, No. 8 ranked lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan returned to the Octagon to continue his climb up the 155-pound ladder at UFC Vegas 75. Tsarukyan entered the evening as the biggest favorite on the card, listed as high as a ten-to-one favorite, but his opponent, Joaquim Silva, walked into the bout with an upset on his mind.

The opening round went pretty much the way fans expected, with Arman Tsarukyan landing a stiff body kick followed by a successful takedown attempt in the opening minute. From there, Tsarukyan controlled things with ease, keeping Silva on the mat throughout the entire round. In the second, Silva managed to keep things standing, giving him a puncher’s chance. It nearly paid off with just over a minute remaining in the round as Silva blasted Tsarukyan with a massive left hand that had the Armenian standout struggling to stay on his feet.

Smelling blood in the water, Silva moved in, but Tsarukyan managed to score a desperation takedown and right out the remainder of the round on the mat.

Finding himself in danger during the penultimate round, Tsarukyan had no interest in standing and trading with Silva in the third. Putting on the pressure early, Tsarukyan managed to back his opponent against the fence and drag him to the canvas. Silva worked his way back up near the halfway point, but it was just a matter of time before Tsarukyan dumped Silva once again. Once he had his man bac k on the mat, Tsarukyan unleashed a flurry of elbow strikes and ground and pound from the mount forcing the referee to step in and call for the stoppage.

Official Result: Arman Tsarukyan def. Joaquim Silva via TKO (strikes) at 3:25 of Round 3.

Arman Tsarukyan likes his chances against Charles Oliveira: ‘I’m gonna smash him easy’

Arman Tsarukyan is looking forward to the day he gets to step inside the Octagon with former lightweight world champion Charles Oliveira.

Tsarukyn, who currently sits in the No. 8 spot in the 155-pound rankings, will look to score his 20th career win on Saturday night as he heads to The APEX in Las Vegas for a clash with Joaquim Silva. A win over Silva will keep Tsarukyan moving up the lightweight division ladder in hopes of landing a fight with one of the promotion’s most prolific finishers, Charles Oliveira.

Appearing at the Fight Night media event, Arman Tsurkyan spoke about UFC 289’s co-main event contest between Oliveira and Beneil Dariush. ‘Do Bronx’ scored a highlight-reel-worthy finish in the first round to reassert himself as the division’s top contender, a result that surprised Tsarukyan given what was at stake for Dariush that night.

“I thought Dariush was going to win for sure. I thought he was in good shape. It’s his last chance in his life I think to be a champion, to fight with Islam Makhachev,” Tsarukyan said. “Because if he won, he could fight Islam Makhachev. Now he lost and to go to the top and fight to be a contender, it takes like two years. A year and a half, you know. And he’s not young like me. That’s why I thought he was gonna give all of himself in this fight. He started to look good, but then something happened. He missed a punch and it is what it is.”

Arman Tsarukyan Sees Fighting Charles Oliveira as a Gift

Though he was impressed with Oliveira’s performance, Arman Tsarukyan likes his chances against ‘Do Bronx’ and is chomping at the bit for an opportunity “smash him” en route to the top of the weight class.

Charles, he’s a good fighter. He has a lot of experience. He’s patient and it showed what level Charles is [at], but for me, Charles is a present. I’m gonna smash him easy because his style for me is the best style.

Tsarukyan is currently 6-2 inside the Octagon with his only losses coming against reigning lightweight titleholder Islam Makhachev and another division standout, Mateusz Gamrot. His last appearance came in December where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Damir Ismagulov.

His opponent, Joaquim Silva, is 5-3 under the UFC banner and has lost two of his last three contests. With an upset over Tsarukyan on Saturday night, Silva could immediately find himself catapulted into the division’s top ten.

At UFC 309 in New York, Michael Chandler will make his long awaited return to the Octagon where he’s in search of revenge. After waiting for his fight with Conor McGregor to materialize for so long, he’s happy with how things worked out even though he’s not fighting “The Mac”.

Instead, “Iron” Mike has the opportunity to put himself right back in the title picture by beating Charles Oliveira in a rematch of their first meeting over three years ago.

After Chandler’s big win over Dan Hooker on his UFC debut, he and “Do Bronx” put on a crazy fight at UFC 262 which saw the Brazilian stop him in the second round to win the lightweight title that was left behind by Khabib Nurmagomedov in retirement.

One contender at 155-pounds that has been very critical of Chandler’s all-action fighting style is Arman Tsarukyan, who appears to be gearing up for a rematch with the champion, Islam Makhachev, early next year. He’s made it clear that he’s not the biggest fan of the former Bellator star and doesn’t respect him as a top fighter in the division.

Tsarukyan is coming off of a hard fought win over Oliveira last time out at UFC 300 to solidify his status as the number one contender in the division. When looking at the upcoming co-main event at Madison Square Garden in an interview with MMA Junkie, it’s no surprise that he’s picking his former opponent to win in convincing fashion and earn the next shot at the belt.

“Michael Chandler going to lose for sure. He’s number one easy fight for Charles Oliveira, he’s going to choke him out or knock him out. Easy money for Oliveira so so happy for him and after the fight, Oliveira is going to be the next after me so I’m going to fight with Islam and after that fight, for sure he’s going to fight for the title because he has a big name, he was the champion and the UFC loves him.”
