Former UFC fighter Artem Lobov must pay legal fees after a failed attempt in forcing Conor McGregor to delete Twitter posts aimed at him.

Lobov originally sued his former sparring partner for 5 percent of a $600 million deal that centered around McGregor’s Proper Twelve whiskey brand. The 36-year-old claims that he influenced McGregor into creating the brand.

Artem Lobov Claims That He Was Being Harassed By Conor McGregor on Social Media

McGregor responded to Lobov’s claims on Twitter, where he sent out multiple tweets calling his former friend a “rat”. In an audio message, the Irish star challenged Lobov to a fight to settle their beef. In December, Lobov filed a defamation suit with the goal of forcing McGregor to stop his tweets claiming that the social media posts were harassment, intimidation, and defamation methods. A higher court rejected Lobov’s case.

According to the Irish Times, Justice Garrett Simmons rejected Lobov’s request to wait until the entire defamation case is over to decide who would pay the court fees. Justice Simmons believed forcing McGregor to stop tweeting could potentially violate his freedom of expression. The judge did mention that he was prepared to initiate a “stay on the cost order” following the final decision on the case.

Lobov and McGregor were once close friends. They trained together throughout their respective MMA careers. McGregor even coached Lobov on The Ultimate Fighter 22. In early 2018, McGregor was arrested for throwing a steel dolly through a bus window while targeting Khabib Nurmagomedov. It was in retaliation for an altercation between Nurmagomedov and Lobov during UFC 223 fight week.

Now, the two former training partners are embroiled in a multi-million dollar case.

Former two-weight UFC champion, Conor McGregor has hit out at former teammate and friend, Artem Lobov, claiming he would have previously done anything for the Russian-born fighter, amid their ongoing feud over financial compensation regarding McGregor’s Irish whiskey brand, Proper Number Twelve.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the banner of the UFC, has been embroiled in a legal dispute with former Straight Blast Gym teammate, Lobov, after the latter opened legal proceedings against the Crumlin native in relation to the creation and conception of Proper Number Twelve – which Lobov is claiming he came up with.

Artem Lobov opened proceedings on a defamatory case against Conor McGregor

Taking out a separate defamation case against the 34-year-old Dubliner, Lobov has seen his attempt to take a court ordered injunction against Conor McGregor denied, after he took umbrage with derogatory comments made by the former on Twitter – including the use of the word “rat” when referring to Lobov, as well as superimposing his face onto sausages.

Reacting to news of Lobov’s failed attempt at securing a court-ordered injunction, McGregor insisted his former friend owed him financial compensation for two appearances in court, as well as claiming, in the past, he would have done anything for Lobov.

“Well there ya go Stuart Little,” Conor McGregor tweeted referring to Artem Lobov. “You now owe me two major court appearance fees. Stop this nonsense. You are making a holy show of yourself. Peel it back day by day, if you can even. That’s coming from the “old friend, woudla (sic) done anything for you” in me mate. God bless (praying hands emoji).”

Sidelined since July of last year, McGregor headlined UFC 264 against three-time opponent, Dustin Poirier, fracturing his left tibia and fibula en route to a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss. The UFC superstar is expected to make his professional return next summer.

Former UFC welterweight and lightweight contender, Nate Diaz has weighed in on the ongoing rivalry between former opponent, Conor McGregor and Artem Lobov – questioning if the latter will honor McGregor’s request and show up to a fight at SBG Concorde in Dublin.

Diaz, who twice fought Crumlin native, McGregor, with both matchups coming back in 2016. Handing McGregor his first promotional loss in an upset second round rear-naked choke win, Nate Diaz would then drop an immediate rematch to the Dubliner in August of that year, suffering a close, majority decision defeat.

In recent days, reports have emerged detailing how The Ultimate Fighter alum, Lobov is set to bring legal proceedings against McGregor in regard to the inception of his Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey brand, in the hope to secure 5% of profits earned from McGregor’s reported $600,000,000 sale last year.

Launching a hurl of expletives and insults in the direction of Lobov in a series of voice messages on his official Twitter account last night, McGregor also challenged the Russian-born featherweight to a fight at their SBG Concorde base

“This is a call out to Artem ‘the fanny, fairy pad’ Lobov,” Conor McGregor said in a voice message. “I’m challenging you to a fight tonight, 10:30 p.m. – I’ll meet you down at SBG Concorde, and we’ll fight for the whole lot – we’ll fight for the whole lot. Going through – having lawyers messaging me about defamation and all this suing and all. You’re a little fairy – you’re a little blouse, mate. I’ll see you at SBG Concorde tonight, 10:30 p.m. And I’ll fight you for the whole lot, yeah? Answer this f*cking call out, yeah, you little blouse.”

Nate Diaz pokes fun at Artem Lobov and Conor McGregor

Appearing to react to McGregor’s tirade aimed at former teammate, Lobov, Diaz questioned if the UFC alum would be actually accepting a future fight with the Dubliner.

“So is Artem gonna show up to the big fight or what?” Nate Diaz tweeted

As for Diaz, the Stockton fan favorite officially entered free agency on Monday night earlier this week, with his exclusivity period with the UFC expiring. Diaz’s representative, Zach Rosenfield did, however, confirm his client’s interest in potentially securing a trilogy rubber match with McGregor sometime in the future.
