It would seem that Bellator officials approached Tito Ortiz about the former UFC light heavyweight champion stepping in and replacing Kimbo Slice at Bellator 158 next month.
Slice passed away Monday night, just about a month away from his planned bout with James Thompson in London, England. Previous reports have indicated that the event will remain on-schedule, airing live on Spike TV.
Ortiz last fought in September, losing to Bellator light heavyweight champion Liam McGeary. He has gone 2-1 overall with Bellator.
Lima, a former Bellator welterweight champion, will be fighting for the first time since losing his belt last year to Andrey Koreshkov. He is 8-2 overall and was expected to fight Chidi Njokuani later this month at Bellator 156.
Daley and Koscheck have been on separate paths since their 2010 meeting in the UFC that ended with Koscheck winning and Daley released after “Semtex” landed a punch after the bell.

Bellator MMA officials are in the process of finding a new opponent for Michael “Venom” Page for their upcoming Bellator 158 event in Page’s hometown of London, England.
Page, known to MMA fans as MVP, was originally scheduled to fight Fernando Gonzalez on the card, which is scheduled to take place in July, however Gonzalez has pulled out of the fight due to visa issues.
According to MMAFighting.com, Bellator MMA officials are “actively seeking an opponent” for Page to ensure that he remains on the card.
Page sports a perfect 10-0 professional MMA record, with nine finishes in his ten pro fights. He has amassed an unblemished 5-0 record while fighting under the Bellator banner, with his most recent victory coming by way of first-round submission over Jeremie Holloway at Bellator 153.
Headlined by Kimbo Slice vs. James Thompson II, Bellator 158 is scheduled to take place on July 16, 2016 at the O2 Arena in London, England, and will air live on Spike TV.
Josh Koscheck signed with Bellator last summer and has yet to fight with the promotion. That is all changing after it was announced that Koscheck would face Paul Daley in a rematch from their first bout in 2010. The event will take place at Bellator 158 in London this summer.
The former UFC fighter is currently on a five-fight losing streak which includes fighters like Robbie Lawler, Tyron Woodley, and Johny Hendricks in those string of losses. On the other hand, Paul Daley is on a five-fight win streak and is 15-4 since being cut from the UFC for his sucker punch over Koscheck.
Both fighters have not shied away from their animosity towards each other. Watch the heated exchange below in a press conference that was released a couple days ago.

Michael Page will indeed face off with Fernando Gonzalez after earning his 10th straight win to start his MMA career.
Page and Gonzalez, along with Linton Vassell-Francis Carmont, were made official by Bellator for the upcoming event in London, Bellator 158. That card features a main event between Kimbo Slice and James Thompson.
Page (10-0) scored a victory over Jeremie Holloway Friday night with a toe hold submission for his ninth career finish. Gonzalez (25-13) picked up a split decision over veteran Gilbert Smith recently, pushing his win streak to five.
The two welterweights were scheduled for March before an injury knocked Page out.
Vassell (16-5) bested former Bellator champion Emanuel Newton at Bellator 149 earlier this year and is 11-2 over his last 13. He’ll also have the home-crowd advantage being a native of England vs. Carmont (24-11), who is a former UFC fighter.
The other bout announced previously will feature Josh Koscheck taking on Paul Daley.
