Former reality star turned MMA fighter Aaron Chalmers is set to return to action on Feb 22 at the 3 Arena in Dublin. ‘The Joker’ will face Austin Clem in a main card fight at Bellator Dublin, which will be headlined by a bantamweight bout between James Gallagher and Cal Ellenor.

The return of Chalmers was one of several bouts released for the card via press release this morning.

Chalmers (4-1) got back in the win column last time out, submitting Fred Freeman in round two of their fight at Bellator 223. Previously he had picked up his first career defeat against Corey Browning at Bellator Newcastle.

The 32-year-old
former Geordie Shore star will look to make it two in a row against Bellator
debutant Austin Clem (3-1). An American fighter who turned pro late last year
and is currently riding a two-fight win streak. All three of his wins have come
by choke and he could represent a problem on the mat.

Bellator Europe announced several more bouts for February’s Dublin show and its preliminary card. It will feature a high-profile clash between popular Welshman Lewis Long (17-5) and UFC veteran Oliver Enkamp.

Irish middleweight Will Fleury (6-2), who fights out of SBG will look to get back in the win column. He’ll face Englishman Justin Moore (9-4) who is ridning a two-fight win streak since losing in his first and only Bellator appearance against Charlie Ward.

Bellator have also announced that Blaine O’Driscoll (7-3-0) will face Ezzoubair Bouarsa (7-1). Danni Neilan (1-0) will look to add to her debut win when she faces Chiara Penco (4-1-0).

Kyoji Horiguchi has been forced to relinquish another championship due to injury.

Earlier this month it was announced that Horiguchi was forced to withdraw from the main event of one of the Bellator MMA and RIZIN FF’s New Year’s Eve cards in December due to an injury. Horiguchi apparently suffered a torn ACL, as well as damaged his meniscus in his right knee. He underwent successful surgery to repair the issue. However, he was also forced to relinquish the RIZIN bantamweight championship as a result.

Now, Bellator officials have confirmed that Horiguchi has also dropped their bantamweight title as well in the wake of the injury. Bellator MMA president Scott Coker commented on the news, promising Horiguchi a title shot once he’s healthy enough to return.

“I feel terrible for Kyoji [Horiguchi] about the injury he suffered to his knee, but in the true spirit of martial arts and being a true champion, he has elected to vacate his title and allow the division to move forward in his absence,” Bellator President Scott Coker said. “After fully healing, we plan to give Kyoji an immediate title shot.”

Bellator has also noted they’re working on booking a fight for the vacant bantamweight title in the coming months.

What do you make of Horiguchi opting to relinquish the bantamweight title?

Quinton Jackson Interested In Taking Boxing Fight, Just Not Against Deontay Wilder

Mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is nearing the end of his combat sports career, and wants to get in a boxing match before riding off into the sunset.

Jackson is currently slated to meet fellow heavyweight MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko in a New Year’s Eve clash in Japan. After that, however, as Jackson tells TMZ Sports, he’s interested in boxing. Jackson notes that he asked UFC president Dana White, during his days with the Las Vegas-based MMA promotion, about allowing him to box. Unfortunately, there was nobody for him to fight.

Now, however, Jackson wants to give it one more shot, and is ready to step into the squared circle. (H/T BJPenn.com)

“I asked Dana White a long time ago, way before Conor McGregor even was around, let me do some boxing. It wasn’t my time, there was nobody for me to fight. I still want to fight a boxing match before I retire,” Jackson said.

Of course, there are some opponents Jackson would rather not box. One being WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Jackson said he doesn’t like fighting tall opponents with a long reach. Jackson finds matchups like these extremely difficult, most notably his submission loss to Jon Jones in 2011.

“I’ll fight anybody but Deontay Wilder. He’s too tall. Unless they give me like $100 mil, then I’d fight him. I’m keeping it real. I don’t like to fight tall guys with a long reach. I’ll tell you what. I’ll fight him if they give me $100 mil and we do me one boxing match and one MMA match, then I’ll fight him. $100 mil. I’m keeping it real. I don’t like fighting them long, tall dudes,” Jackson said.

What do you think about Jackson potentially pursuing a career in professional boxing before he retires?

Michael “Venom” Page racked up another impressive knockout win over the weekend, but former opponent Paul Daley was not impressed in the slightest.

Page headlined Bellator London opposite Giovanni Melillo, who Page toyed with for the majority of the first round before putting him away with a nasty knockout. It was Page’s second-straight knockout win since suffering the first defeat of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, a second-round knockout loss to Douglas Lima.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Daley had some harsh criticism for the matchmaking Page has been receiving thus far in his MMA career, with a record of 16-1, and only having faced two truly notable names in that time in Lima and Daley.

“This is ridiculous,” Daley said. “You can’t continually beat these kind of opponents. Yes, he knocks them out, but he’s expected to knock them out. What does this prove, the fact that he knocked out a guy nobody will remember? It proves nothing. It proves nothing at all. Why didn’t he do that to me? Why didn’t he do that to Douglas Lima? Because he’s not of that caliber.

“I need to see more from Michael Page, in my opinion, whether it’s a rematch with me or a rematch with another top-tier fighter. Does a win over this guy warrant a title shot? In my opinion it doesn’t. Yes, he’s a star. Yes, people love him. But can he really fight? The two times he’s stepped up, on paper, he’s got a ‘victory’ over me.

“Most people, including me, thought he lost that fight. Second time he stepped up against the champion, who I went three rounds with, he gets knocked out cold. So he needs to fight solid opponents instead of feeding him these guys.”

Page and Daley fought back in February of 2019. It was a fairly uneventful bout, but Page was given the winning nod via unanimous decision. Daley believes he should’ve won the fight, and is open to a rematch in 2020, but wants the stakes raised.

“He couldn’t do what he normally does to everybody else (when we fought),” Daley said. “In my mind I thought I won that fight. The only way to make it more convincing to everybody else is to take him out before the judges. If that fight is going to happen it needs to be a big fight. It needs to happen here in 2020, at Wembley in 2020.”

What do you think about Daley’s criticism of the competition Page has been receiving?
