After eight shows and a whole lot of colorful prose from ReX13, Bellator’s second season is entering its climactic Finals stage tomorrow night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Headlining Bellator 21 will be the lightweight final between grappling ace Toby Imada — who submitted James Krause and Carey Vanier (both via second-round armbar) to get to the end of the bracket — and Pat Curran, who earned his spot in the finals by knocking out Mike Ricci and scoring an upset decision over Roger Huerta. The winner of the fight will face Bellator lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez later this year.

Toby Imada vs Pat Curran

Toby Imada, is all around good, but probably less good in the standup. Well known for his reverse triangle choke on Jorge Masvidal, a fight he was losing and was the underdog in.

In this matchup I like the heavy handed Pat Curran to cause enough problems for Imada as well as utilize the wrestling to keep Imada off kilter the entire fight.

Pat Curran is an underdog in this fight @ +125

Steve Carl vs Dan Hornbuckle
Hornbuckle has shown in DREAM and in Bellator that he is a level above the rest. I like Hornbuckle here.

Diego Saraiva v Joe Soto

Not familiar with Saraiva other than him being an underdog in this fight. Joe Soto once again has shown to be an absolute handful for anyone he has faced in the smaller shows.

Ryan Thomas v Ben Askren

The rematch of the fight where Askren had Thomas in a D’arce choke, the referee stopped the fight without Thomas tapping. Immediately protesting, Thomas, got a chance at a rematch due to another fighter being injured.

I think this fight is probably going to go the same way. Askren is a top level collegiate wrestler and it doesn’t seem Ryan Thomas has an answer for the takedowns, despite being a UFC veteran and an excellent fighter in his own right.

I think this one goes the same way. Askren to win.
