Ben Askren Questions Giving Nate Diaz Title Shot With UFC 244 Win

Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will fight at UFC 244 for the Baddest Mother F*cker Championship. The two welterweights will collide in the main event of the Madison Square Garden pay-per-view (PPV).

UFC president Dana White has also suggested it’s possible the winner is next in line for the 170-pound title. Currently, Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington will headline UFC 245 in December for the welterweight crown, so it’s likely the winners of the two PPVs will be meeting in 2020.

Another man trying to climb his way back into the title hunt at welterweight is Ben Askren. “Funky” has a meeting with Demian Maia in Singapore coming up on October 26. Speaking to Submission Radio recently, Askren noted he has a hard time giving Diaz a title shot if victorious in November, simply because of his recent activity, or lack thereof.

“Oh, the BMF, that’s a one-off. They’re gonna do it one time and it’s whatever, it’s gone. You know, handed it one time, it’s kind of cool, now done and gone with. So, I think if Jorge wins, then he gets a title shot, and I would venture to guess that’s who’s gonna win.

“Although, I can’t be entirely certain, that’s where I would probably lean. And if Nate wins, I just have a hard time (giving him a title shot). Could you give him a title shot? Sure, right? But then again, he’s only beaten Anthony and Jorge, and that’s really it in the last, what, he took three years off or something? So that makes him challenging for the title fight. So, I think he could, but you probably would look to put him in a different fight of some kind. And then if Jorge wins, then I believe Jorge goes for a title.”

If Masvidal is victorious on the night, however, there’s no disputing he deserves a shot at the gold. He is currently on a two-fight win streak in which he has finished each of his opponents in devastating fashion. He knocked out Darren Till in the second round of their London meeting earlier this year. “Gamebred” followed that up with the fastest knockout in UFC history, finishing Askren in five seconds at UFC 239.

What do you think about Askren questioning giving Diaz a title shot with a win at UFC 244?

Jorge Masvidal is willing to run things back with Ben Askren – on one condition. Recently, “Funky” expressed interest in rematching “Gamebred” at some point down the line in his UFC career.

Masvidal caught wind of the story online, replying to the Tweet by saying he’ll run things back with his former foe if the ex-ONE Championship welterweight champ can rack up a few more wins.

“Get some wins and we can do it #supernecessary

Askren replied to Masvidal, saying the Miami native is finally acknowledging that he made him famous.

“I see you are appreciating me make you famous. You’re welcome sucka”

Masvidal and Askren initially met back at UFC 239 this summer. “Gamebred” shocked the combat sports world by setting the record for the fastest knockout in UFC history. He nailed Askren with a flying knee right out the gate, clocking in a finish at five seconds – a record that will likely never be beaten. Now, Masvidal will square off with Nate Diaz at UFC 244 from Madison Square Garden on November 2.

The pair will be competing for the Baddest Mother F*cker Championship. As for Askren, he’s approaching a grappling showdown with jiu-jitsu ace Demian Maia in Singapore. If Askren can pick up a win, he’ll be right back on track to getting back into the 170-pound title hunt.

What do you think about Masvidal’s willingness to rematch Askren with a few wins?

Israel Adesanya has called all his shots similar to what Conor McGregor did ahead of his rise. Now, after “The Last Stylebender” became the UFC’s middleweight champion at UFC 243, many believe he is the next superstar, which Ben Askren agrees with.

Adesanya had a star-making performance from his walkout to his phenomenal performance and his callout and giving the fingers to Paulo Costa. The entire night was highlighted by Adesanya and Askren believes he is a superstar now.

“I am very critical, but some of you people are missing the boat. @stylebender [Israel Adesanya] is a f*****g superstar. Charismatic, Unique, Speaks well and can fight,” Ben Askren wrote.

Many fans agree with that sentiment that Israel Adesanya is a superstar. He is entering the space where McGregor and Ronda Rousey were, where they enter the mainstream media and become a person everyone wants to see fight. ‘The Last Stylebender’ also has a very entertaining style and personality that will take him far in this sport.

With the win over Robert Whittaker, Israel Adesanya improved to 18-0 as a pro and 7-0 in the UFC. He has only been in the UFC for less than two years and is already a UFC champion. Adesanya has one of the rises like Conor McGregor did en route to winning the featherweight title.

For now, Israel Adesanya is soaking up the win. As for what is next for him, all signs point to Paulo Costa. Where should he start to defend his title and even move up in weight to fight Jones, he will only become a bigger star.

Do you think Israel Adesanya is a superstar?

The shots continue to get personal as Bellator star Dillon Danis and the UFC’s Ben Askren go at it online.

Danis and Askren have kept it no secret that they don’t like each other with their trash talk over the past several months. Now, Danis took to Twitter to post a crude meme aimed at Askren’s sex life. This comes after Askren made several “kneecap” jokes about Danis following his pull from ADCC 2019.

Check out the meme below.

Danis and Askren have been going back-and-forth with each other online for quite some time now. They’d eventually like to settle their differences in a competitive setting. Recently, Askren expressed interest in doing a grappling match with Danis down the line, perhaps after his UFC career comes to a close.

“At this point it’s my MMA career,” Askren said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show earlier this year. “When I am done with that if I chose to take part in a grappling contest it would be Dillion Danis.

“Obviously, he challenged me to a grappling match. After my MMA career, that’s something I would definitely do.”

Danis quickly responded to Askren’s comments, letting “Funky” know he’s game.

What do you think about the back-and-forth between Danis and Askren?
