Mike Perry offers to make return and fight Nate Diaz at UFC 300 y'all could give me a little purse

Former welterweight contender, Mike Perry has campaigned for a return to the Octagon in the form of a UFC 300 clash with fellow promotional alum, Nate Diaz – even going as far as lobbying Chief Business Officer, Hunter Campbell, who appeared less than interested in the floated clash.

Perry, a former welterweight contender under the banner of the UFC, continued his promotional-perfect run in the David Feldman-led BKFC (Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship) back in December.

Winning the inaugural King of Violence title, Michigan native, Mike Perry landed a second round TKO win over former UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez due to a corner’s stoppage – adding to a prior knockout win over former middleweight titleholder, Luke Rockhold in Colorado last April in a light heavyweight clash.

As for Diaz, the former lightweight title challenger departed the UFC following a stunning rallying performance against former interim titleholder, Tony Ferguson back in 2022, landing a fourth round guillotine choke submission win.

And making a professional boxing debut at a pay-per-view event in August last, Stockton veteran, Diaz suffered a unanimous decision loss to outspoken puncher, Jake Paul in ‘The Lone Star State’.

However, linked with a return to the Octagon in a massive appearance at UFC 300 in April, Diaz, who missed out a monumental UFC 200 card back in 2016, claimed it would be “better” for him to headline this edition of a massive flagship event.

And according to Flint native, Perry, who has competed 15 times inside the Octagon, he would land himself a small purse to fight Diaz at UFC 300 in April.

“Nate Diaz says there’s no one to fight on UFC 300,” Mike Perry told the above-mentioned, Campbell via phone call on the Overdogs Podcast. “I’m saying me and Nate, y’all could bring me back for a little purse and then throw in the PPV points, and then we could have a great show for UFC 300.”

Immediately shutting down the idea of a bout against Diaz, Campbell urged Perry to lobby the brass over at BKFC to make a fight between himself and The Ultimate Fighter winner.

“I’ve got a better idea,” Campbell said. “Why don’t you f*cking – why don’t you guys talk to f*cking Nate and get him to go over and fight you there.”

Paige VanZant revelas 2-hour horror story with USADA tester in bathroom after UFC weight cut

Paige VanZant is the latest fighter to come forward with their horror USADA story.

The break-up between the UFC and drug testing agency, USADA, was one of the biggest stories of the year. The news was met with mixed reviews, some fairly pointed out that it could open the door for more fighters using performance enhancing drugs, but several fighters have and continue to reveal their poor run-ins with USADA

The deal will officially end come January 1st 2024 so the 6 am wakeups that fighters have complained about should cease, for now.

Paige VanZant reveals frustrating USADA incident

Talking on her podcast alongside partner Austin Vanderford, VanZant counted a run-in with USADA during a difficult weight cut. The former UFC fighter claimed that whenever she would cut weight, she would become very ill.

“I was about to fight Alex Chambers in Las Vegas, Nevada,” Paige VanZant began. “And this was right when USADA got implemented in the UFC. So my drug testers show up right after weigh-ins. So I’m in my hotel room re-hydrating. Every single time I would weigh in, I would try to rehydrate, instantly sick.”

VanZant would continue, saying that while dealing with the weight-cutting-induced illness, the USADA drug tester stood by her side for two hours.

“So, part of USADA is once they see you, you cannot leave their sight, because, you know, it’s the whole anti-doping,” she continued. “Maybe you’re gonna go do something to mask the drugs or take something. I don’t even know. So, I had my drug tester in the bathroom with me for two hours, while I s— my brains out.”

VanZant last fought in the UFC since July 2020 and has not competed since her 2021 bareknuckle boxing match against Rachael Ostovich.

Paige VanZant Refuses to close door on BKFC career, offers timeline for return: ‘I’m Searching for that victory’

Paige VanZant

Paige VanZant is still determined to score her first win under the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship banner.

It’s been more than two years since the UFC standout turned BKFC brawler has knuckled up inside the squared circle. She was originally set to appear at the promotion’s London debut in August 2022, but her bout with Charisa Sigala was inexplicably pulled from the card just days away from her scheduled arrival in The Big Smoke.

“The real frustration, I guess, was the lead-up to the fight — I worked so hard,” VanZant told MMA Fighting. “I was so excited for this fight. But it was also a big accomplishment as a couple to say we got [my husband Austin Vanderford] ready for his fight. I was at his fight when I got the call that my fight got pulled. So him and I were supposed to fight days apart from each other. Just what goes into a fight camp for two people. Dieting for both of us, just the behind-the-scenes things that people don’t really understand what goes on, just getting prepared.

“For me to get the call that the fight got pulled — a fight I was so ready for, and I was so excited about. I cut all the weight early because I knew I would be traveling, I would be flying all the way to London. My dad was already in London waiting for me. It was depressing, and then trying to figure out how to get right back into a fight camp and not knowing when their next fight camp would be. We already had plans to go visit family in Alaska. It’s like, do I cancel my trip to Alaska? It was hard to figure out what to do next.”

After suffering back-to-back losses against Britain Hart and Rachael Ostovich in her first two BKFC outings, VanZant is determined to prove her worth and get back into the win column for the first time since 2019. Unfortunately, she wasn’t given that opportunity after putting in all the work.

“That’s the thing, I didn’t even get to fight,” VanZant said. “I didn’t get to prove myself. I didn’t get to go out and just do what I love. The fight camp is the struggle. You go in, you struggle, you lose weight, you work so hard and you sacrifice so much throughout your day-to-day to prepare for something, and to have it just taken away from you, it’s just frustrating.

“I did feel like there could have been things done differently. I don’t have any ill will toward BKFC. I would never speak negatively [about them], they’ve treated me extremely well. It’s just more the way it all played out was extremely frustrating.”

Paige VanZant has not closed the door on BKFC Return

VanZant has found plenty of ways to keep herself busy with her fight career in a holding pattern. Aside from making money hand over fist via OnlyFans and various social media outlets, the 29-year-old is currently overseeing the construction of her new home and recently launched a podcast with her husband and fellow fighter Austin Vanderford. ’12 Gauge’ has also dipped her toe into the world of pro wrestling, making multiple appearances for All Elite Wrestling.

Despite all of that success outside of the fight game, VanZant knows that she will inevitably be drawn back into the world of bare-knuckle boxing.

“It’s definitely bare-knuckle, and I don’t know if it’s down the road in six months, I don’t know if it’s down the road a year,” VanZant said. “I really just haven’t decided yet. I’m going to leave a lot of that up to my manager and my coaches. Just work on this time to get better and enjoy the training and not worry about signing a fight contract right away. But it’s definitely bare-knuckle.

“I love bare-knuckle boxing. I’ve now gone 10 rounds in bare-knuckle boxing and I’m searching for that victory. I’m searching for a lot of things in bare-knuckle boxing that I haven’t accomplished, and it will be with BKFC again.”

BKFC Star ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry interested in a boxing match with Nate Diaz: ‘I Think I Win that’

Mike Perry

Though ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry has made his mark in the world of bare-knuckle fighting, the newly minted ‘King of Violence’ would love to test out his skills in the sweet science and he has the perfect opponent in mind.

Returning to the squared circle at BKFC 56, Perry scored his fourth-straight win for the promotion with a dominant performance against former Bellator MMA and UFC lightweight world champion Eddie Alvarez. ‘The Underground King’ was forced to throw in the towel following the second round after his eye had swollen shut. The victory scored Perry the promotion’s BMF-like title, the ‘King of Violence’ championship.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani following another lucrative night of bare-knuckle brawling, Mike Perry expressed an interest in fighting TUF alumnus Nate Diaz, even if it means having to strap on a pair of eight-ounce gloves.

“I want to fight bare-knuckle,” Perry said on The MMA Hour. “I love it. I do love it. At the same time, I’m still interested to maybe put a boxing glove on and Nate boxed Jake and it didn’t go his way. So a fight with me definitely makes sense. I would love to fight a Nathan Diaz but I think I win that.”

Mike Perry is willing to throw on a pair of gloves if it means bagging a big fight

Thus far, Perry has earned victories over notable talents inside the BKFC ring, including Michael ‘Venom’ Page, Luke Rockhold, and the aforementioned Eddie Alvarez. However, ‘Platinum’ admits that there is a bit of a struggle in getting fighters to sign on the dotted line for a bare-knuckle fight.

“These guys are afraid to do no gloves,” Perry said. “They really are afraid. I’m like come test yourself. It’s good to be afraid. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. I want to be afraid when I’m about to fight because it’s going to make me do even better. Be a man. My first act as king is men got to stand up. Grow some balls.

“I’m the guy. I’m the money fight. It’s because of BKFC. It’s because the show they put on. It’s because the promotion they’re doing. They’re killing it with me. We’re killing it together but if the biggest fight out there is a fight that needs to get made with gloves on, of course I would do it. That would be a play date” (h/t MMA Fighting).

In August, Nate Diaz made his pro boxing debut against social media sensation Jake Paul in Dallas. After 10 entertaining rounds of action, the ‘Problem Child’ was dubbed the victor via a unanimous decision. Since then, Paul has pushed for a rematch to take place inside the PFL Smart Cage, but thus far, the ‘Stockton Samurai’ has declined the offer which is said to be worth upwards of $10 million.

UFC Fighter Turned BKFC Brawler Todd Duffee Wants to be the first to fight Francis Ngannou in PFL

Todd Duffee

Ex-UFC heavyweight standout Todd Duffee would love to be a part of the Professional Fighter’s League, especially if it means scoring an opportunity to welcome Francis Ngannou back to MMA.

With ‘The Predator’ expected to make his debut inside the PFL Smart Cage in 2024, heavyweights from far and wide are throwing their names into the hat of potential opponents for the former UFC heavyweight champion. Duffee, who currently calls the BKFC home, would love the opportunity to be Ngannou’s first opponent.

“Oh, yeah, I’d love to, and I think they would give me that opportunity, too,” Duffee told MMA Junkie Radio when asked about a potential fight against Ngannou. “I would love to do that. It’s a fun, exciting fight.

“I do think they have a lot of sexy matchups, but I love heavyweight fights, so maybe I see it differently. Both guys that fought last weekend would be amazing matchups for him. I think that in general, PFL has a good roster of heavyweights I would love to see Francis fight. But yeah, please sign me up for that fight. Everybody wants that fight” (h/t MMA Junkie).

Whether or Not He Gets Ngannou, Todd Duffee Would Love to Compete for the PFL

Duffee was scheduled for a return to action at BKFC 56 on Saturday night, but his scheduled opponent, Ben Rothwell, was forced to withdraw from the contest due to illness. The bout has since been rescheduled for February.

Even if he doesn’t win the Francis Ngannou lottery, Duffee would still take advantage of the opportunity to be a part of the PFL.

“The tournament is the best because you know it doesn’t matter if you’re hurt and stuff like that, even that gets removed from your head a lot easier,” Duffee said. “I think tournaments are the coolest thing, for sure. If you can fight month after month, it’s the most beautiful thing in a guys’ career.”

Duffee went 3-2 under the UFC banner with one no-contest. He earned victories over Tim Hague, Phil De Fries, and Anthony Hamilton before exiting the promotion following a loss against former titleholder Frank Mir.

BKFC Asia CEO Details struggles behind booking a fight between Lethwei Legend Dave Leduc and Buakaw Banchamek

Dave Leduc

Dave Leduc, a six-time Lethwei world champion, has long called for a clash with Muay Thai icon Buakaw Banchamek.

It’s a fight that fans of the two sports would undoubtedly love to see, but BKFC Asia CEO Nick Chapman believes there are far too many political obstacles to make it happen. Speaking with John Hyon Ko of The AllStar, Chapman says that you can never say never, but he has little confidence that anyone could make that fight a reality, including himself.

“Personally as a fan, I love the fight,” Chapman said. “I think it’s great. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see that fight? But I do know without going too much into detail that there are some political reasons as to why that fight could most likely never happen. Even I don’t think I could make that fight happen and I don’t have any limitations in my mind, but there are political reasons way above anything that we control that will prevent that fight from happening which is a shame, but let’s never say never.

“If anyone can, I can, but it’s a very tricky situation, that one. Dave Leduc’s pretty outspoken and he said some things about some people. It’s completely irrelevant to me. Makes no difference to me. I like the way he promotes himself, but it’s been perceived as very disrespectful to a certain group of people in Thailand who have a massive amount of influence over Buakaw.”

Dave Leduc is Banned From Entering Thailand

On April 28, 2021, Leduc stirred controversy with a profanity-laced social media post saying that Muay Thai was nothing more than a “softened version of Burmese boxing.” He also criticized Buakaw Banchamek and stated that claims surrounding the Nai Khanom Tom folklore story were false and that he was simply a prisoner in ancient Burma during the Burmese–Siamese War.

The post sparked a considerable amount of backlash from the Muay Thai community.

Leduc doubled down on his statement later calling the Muay Thai folklore figure Nai Khanom Tom a “bitch, after getting captured by the Burmese.” referring to Siamese prisoners captured by Burmese troops during the war.

As a result, the Ministry of Culture banned Leduc from entering Thailand in May 2021.

Despite all of that, Chapman still believes there is a small chance that Buakaw vs. Leduc could come to fruition, so long as the numbers justify looking past the Lethwei star’s past transgressions.

“It’s all about numbers,” he added. “If we can see the numbers and people want to see the fight, we’ll see what we can do.”
