Lorenzo Hunt, Joe Riggs

Lorenzo Hunt came in with a surprise at the BKFC 24 ceremonial faceoffs when he smashed a half-eaten tomato in Joe Riggs’s face.

As an MMA fan, it’s not only the actual fight that gets us excited. It’s the thrill of the build-up as two opponents get ready to face each other in the cage. Weigh-ins, faceoffs, and press conferences are great ways for an athlete to promote their fight and increase the standing of their brand.

Ahead of the fight, light heavyweight champion Lorenzo Hunt found his opportunity to promote the event at the BKFC 24 ceremonial faceoffs. Squaring off against former UFC fighter and next title challenger Joe Riggs, Hunt came in with a robust weapon in his hand, a tomato.

Hunt walked up and began to nibble away at the plant before he smacked the half-eaten tomato right in Riggs’s face.

Props to the security and staff working the show for acting quickly. They separated the two fighters before the matter could escalate. Riggs was far from delighted with the strike as he yelled out “c*nt” in Hunt’s direction. The 39-year-old took joy in the exploits of his antics as he laughed at a distance from Riggs and put on a show for the audience.

Lorenzo Hunt infamous for wild antics

Lorenzo Hunt is going into his contest off a five-fight win streak that saw him dispatch Hector Lombard and Josh Dyer in bare-knuckle boxing matches. ‘The Juggernaut’ has become a provocative figure in the promotion who’s infamous for trashing his opponents.

Before his match with Lombard, Hunt walked up to the former champion and took his belt away as security made sure to maintain a distance between them. He proceeded to smash the belt on the floor prior to walking away with it.

After Lombard’s successful defense against Riggs, he was unable to complete his post-fight interview in the ring. Hunt took the chance to jump in and aggressively paced towards the former cruiserweight king who was having none of it. Being already infuriated with his actions from the presser, Lombard didn’t hesitate to take a swing at Hunt as he invaded his personal space.

Paige VanZant

In an embarrassing turn of events due to a booking mix-up at the airport, ex-UFC star Paige VanZant accidentally shared the existence of a sex tape she and her husband had made with the airline staff.

Taking to Twitter, ’12 Gauge’ shared that she was flying to Texas when she was asked to prove her identity before boarding. A booking had been made under her professional name VanZant and not her legal name after marriage, Paige Vanderford.

The bare-knuckle boxer had married Bellator star Austin Vanderford in September 2018 and chose to keep her maiden name based on her brand’s popularity with it.

Airport staff asked her to prove her identity in a bid to clear out the confusion of having booked under one name and carrying a passport reflecting another. VanZant’s plan to google her own name in front of the staff backfired when the first search result was an article reporting that she and her husband had made a sex tape.

During a Q&A session on social media earlier this year, VanZant was asked by fans if she and Vanderford would ever make a tape. She revealed that they had already made one before suggesting that she doesn’t intend to sell or share it with her fans.

VanZant also joked that her followers likely started looking for more information on the unreleased tape after reading her initial story. While she hasn’t outright dismissed the possibility of ever making the tape available, she seems content with sharing risqué photos on her members-only subscription site for now.

Do you miss Paige VanZant in the UFC?

Paige VanZant signed with professional wrestling company, AEW (All Elite Wrestling) after losing her first two fights in bare-knuckle boxing. Although she’s just 27 years old and may still have a future in MMA and boxing, she looks set to continue competing in the sports entertainment league rather than combat sports.

After her time in the UFC, she explored different avenues including cornering and broadcasting in the sports world. She also reportedly makes a fortune on her subscription site.

In an interview with ESPN, she shared her ambitions of returning to the cage and competing in BKFC as she praised them for their support during the transition after signing with AEW.

Will we see Paige VanZant return to the cage?

Francis Ngannou

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) will try to sign Francis Ngannou if/when the UFC heavyweight champion becomes a free agent.

‘The Predator’ is currently at odds with the MMA leader and it seems he could be on the verge of leaving the UFC to become one of the biggest free agents in sport.

Ngannou was paid just $600,000 for his latest fight, a unanimous decision win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270.

The fight was the last on Ngannou’s current contract, which has been extended due to a championship clause in the deal that ties the Cameroonian KO artist to the UFC for one year or three fights – whatever comes first.

Ngannou is currently recovering from a serious knee injury and has stated his intention to sit out until he and the UFC come to terms on a new deal.

BKFC President Dave Feldman Insists They Are In The Race To Sign Francis Ngannou

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, BKFC President Dave Feldman revealed that he is currently finalizing the signings of two free agents before adding that he will make a play for Ngannou if he leaves the UFC.

“We might be able to get two other free agents that are coming up, probably announce in the next day or two. They are still under contract or we would announce it right now, I don’t want to mess them up,” Feldman said about Ngannou.

“Pretty big names but we are going after the biggest name (Ngannou) so we will see what happens there. The biggest name in free agency. I’m not sure if he’s out of the window yet but we are definitely going to make a play for him. I mean, at that stage, you are talking about money, if we can back that kind of money up, we are in the game. I don’t think we are out of the game for anything, to be honest with you.” (Transcribed by BJPENN.com)

Triller Purchase ‘Majority Stake’ In BKFC Founder David Feldman Reveals

The founder and president of BKFC, David Feldman, has revealed today that he’s sold the majority stake of his bare-knuckle fighting promotion to the popular sports brand Triller.

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship made its start in 2018 and was treated with laughs and jeers at the thought that Feldman was bringing back such an ancient concept. However, clever marketing and key free-agent signings have done nothing but grow the brand, despite the doubters.

David Feldman Talks BKFC Triller Deal

Appearing on The MMA Hour, Feldman discussed his venture, his hard work growing the brand, and just what this Triller deal means for everyone involved in BKFC.

“Triller will acquire the majority stake in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship to allow more opportunities, more resources, more funding, just everything that we really need to vie for that No. 1, No. 2 spot in combat sports,” Feldman said (transcribed by MMA Fighting).

“We grew this thing to a point where we thought that we got it as far as we could take it by ourselves right now… We needed to make a partnership that was going to take us to the next level, create more opportunities, more resources, more funding, more things like that to acquire some more fighters, take care of the fighters that are already there, and just create more opportunities for everybody… Nothing is really going to change in the operations of BKFC, we’re just going to have more assets, more resources, and more possibilities.”

Since its inception, MMA fans have sneered at Bare Knuckle FC. However, with fighters like Mike Perry and Chad Mendes debuting with the promotion and partaking in exciting fights, is it time to start cheering?

It’s hard to tell how BKFC will run under Triller, and how the acquisition will affect its brand. Triller doesn’t have the greatest reputation itself, so this could water down its image or instead make it even more mainstream, with a potential for a Paul brother crossover even.

Chad Mendes

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has shared his opinion on Chad Mendes following the formers featherweight’s debut competing in BKFC.

Mendes made his debut in the sport against Joshua Alvarez in a 155-pound matchup and stopped him in the fourth-round via TKO.

His performance caught the eye of ‘The Count’ who believes there may be a sneaky reason that Chad Mendes looked so much bigger compared to his time in the UFC.

“Chad “Mini” Mendes. Chad “hand cream, steroid cream” Mendes, as he’s known in certain circles. Looks like he’s back on the juice, doesn’t he? Let’s be honest,” Bisping said.

“I don’t know if they test in Bare Knuckle FC, but Chad “Mini” Mendes wasn’t looking so “mini.” He was looking bloody jacked (as) f—k.”

“But he had a great performance, so God bless him. What was it, a lunging left hook? Or a lunging right hook? Beautifully timed, it was nice.” (Transcribed by bloodyelbow.com)

Chad Mendes BKFC Return

Mendes was suspended back in 2016 for testing positive for the use of GHRP-6, something that was later attributed to the use of his skincare cream to treat his Psoriasis. He would be out of action until 2018.

Mendes competed for the title on numerous occasions whilst within the UFC just falling short of claiming it. Having had a war with Jose Aldo, Mendes would lose via decision in their rematch despite earning a Performance of The Night Bonus. His second attempt would come on short notice against Conor McGregor after Jose Aldo was forced to pull out due to injury, however, Mendes would be stopped in the second round.

On his return from his suspension, he was tasked with taking on the now champion in Alexander Volkanovski, despite landing a knockdown of his own Volkanovski was able to put Mendes away in the second round.

Following this defeat, Chad Mendes would retire from the sport. He would return to combat sports last August having signed a multi-fight deal with BKFC.
