UFC star Paddy Pimblett has shared his thoughts on the blockbuster boxing match upcoming between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. ‘The Problem Child’ and ‘Iron’ Mike are set for a heavyweight showdown live on Netflix on November 15.

Mike Tyson

‘Iron’ Mike Tyson is one of the all-time great heavyweight boxers in history. He was feared for his thunderous power having won nearly all of his matches by way of knockout when he captured world titles as an unbeaten athlete in the 1980s. The US-born Tyson held on to his illustrious titles until his loss to Lennox Lewis in 2002. He has not fought professionally since a loss in 2005. Most recently, the 58-year-old faced Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match that ended in a draw in 2020.

Jake Paul

‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul was a popular figure on YouTube and managed to convert his fame into a blockbuster boxing career. Paul has made a name for himself by defeating former UFC athletes in the boxing ring. Some of his wins include Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Nate Diaz, among others. The 27-year-old has struggled against career boxers such as Tommy Fury.

Notable grappler and top 15 ranked UFC athlete Paddy Pimblett had some thoughts on the upcoming Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match. The English-born Paddy Pimblett called it a freakshow and barely gave the match any credence, calling it a stupid idea. In a recent interview, he explained:

“[Mike Tyson] was still an absolute unit when I met him anyway, and he wasn’t in shape then. He’s still an absolute brick shi*house. He’s just built like that. Now he’s in shape – but he shouldn’t be fighting at 58, it’s just ridiculous. It’s just stupid. He definitely doesn’t need to either. He’s got the money to not fight, so I just don’t understand why they’re doing it.”

Conor McGregor Warns Regis Prograis on Brutal BKFC Transition After Jack Catterall Loss: “It is bare knuckle fighting”

Conor McGregor, Regis Prograis

Conor McGregor wonders if boxing star Regis Prograis is biting off more than he can chew with his desire to enter the bare-knuckle world.

Prograis lost to Jack Catterall by unanimous decision for the vacant WBO international light welterweight title this weekend in Manchester. After losing back-to-back boxing fights, Prograis hinted at retiring from professional boxing to pursue other ventures.

After the loss, Prograis hinted at a move to bare-knuckle boxing, as he did in the lead-up to the Catterall fight. McGregor, one of the part owners of Bare Knuckle FC, didn’t take long to weigh in on Prograis’s remarks.

Conor McGregor ‘Welcomes’ Regis Prograis to fight bare-knuckle

In a since-deleted tweet, McGregor responded to Prograis’s post-fight declaration.

”2 time boxing world champion [Regis Prograis] looking to take off the gloves for [BKFC’s] 5 fast paced, 2 minute rounds. Yes the surface damage is a lot more gruesome but with intimate skills in the boxing realm could he successfully make the switch? We already have one two-time boxing world champion who has, and he is now World Champion Bare Knuckle Welterweight champion! We would welcome! It’s not bare knuckle boxing however, make sure and take note of this…

“It is bare knuckle fighting,” McGregor continued. There is no red and blue corner, you start centered in the ring behind a line directly in front of your opponent, and elements of clinch fighting are allowed. You can cup the back of opponents head and throw with the free hand fully legal. An amazing game! Most entertaining bang for buck show on the market today and it is not even close. A lot of the straight bare knuckle fighters feel disgruntled at thinking others can come into their sole sport and seek to take from their work. They fight ferociously to defend. It’s exciting times all round at [BKFC].” (h/t SportsKeeda)

McGregor is targeting an MMA return in 2025 after a lengthy absence from the Octagon. He hasn’t fought since a doctor’s stoppage loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

McGregor was supposed to headline UFC 303 earlier this year before withdrawing due to a toe injury. In addition to his MMA ambitions, McGregor teased an eventual appearance in the BKFC ring.

Prograis would be another welcomed star to the BKFC world, although he’ll need to brush up on clinch work before making the move. Regardless, it seems McGregor is on board to giving Prograis a shot.

As the Jake Paul fight approached, ‘Iron’ Mike Tyon began to bring out his darker side which won him heavyweight accolades during his golden era.

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul

In his prime, the heavyweight boxing legend ‘Iron‘ Mike Tyson was feared for his incredible punching power. This strength earned him world titles and a whopping 88% knockout win rate in the ring. Tyson is set to face ‘The Problem Child’ Jake Paul on November 15 streamed on Netflix.

Jake Paul was a YouTube celebrity who was able to leverage this fame into a lucrative boxing career. Along the way, he has out-boxed former UFC fighters such as Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Nate Diaz, among others.

Speaking in a fight trailer, the 58-year-old Mike Tyson said:

“I won’t do anything if I don’t risk being embarrassed. Like now, I want to fight this young m*****f*****. He’s a manufactured killer. I’m a natural-born killer. Hard work defines me. I look at myself as a liberator. I created guys like Jake Paul.” [Ht Talksport]

After his knockout win against BKFC and UFC athlete ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry, Jake Paul called out for a match against the heavyweight great. ‘The Problem Child’ said:

“Mike, I love you, but I’m gonna take your throne, brother.”

The British-Canadian boxer Lennox Lewis, the man to dethrone Tyson in his prime remarked on the bout saying:

I have spoken to Mike, just about fighting. Let’s hope his health is okay. You can’t see things on the outside that may be affecting you on the inside. I wouldn’t want to say he is okay then all of a sudden something happens.”

Olympic Boxing Champion Imane Khelif Announces Professional Move Amid Gender Controversy

Imane Khelif

Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer who won gold in the women’s 66kg category at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has announced her intention to turn professional. This decision comes after a controversial summer where her gender was questioned, leading to intense controversy.

Imane Khelif Controversy

Khelif’s journey to Olympic gold was marked by controversy when she was disqualified from the 2023 World Championships after failing gender eligibility tests conducted by the International Boxing Association (IBA). However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowed her to compete in Paris as the IBA is not considered a reputable organization.

The legitimacy of these tests has since been questioned as the IBA refused to share the results or even what the test was. As Chael Sonnen explained:

The claim that the boxer submitted a genetic test that came back with an XY chromosome—indicating that she is biologically male—is simply not true. The IBA, which initiated this whole controversy, never said such a test was done. They only mentioned that they found something, which was then appealed

Alleging that this Algerian boxer had a test showing she had the XY chromosome, which would indicate biological maleness. But this is simply not true. The test never happened. The IBA never claimed such a test was done.

Algeria’s Imane Khelif was born a woman and competes as a woman. This person is not trans. This person has never failed a gender test, nor has the IBA ever explained what they were testing for. The story was false. Her vocal critics largely have apologized.

Despite facing significant backlash and criticism, including an incident where Italian boxer Angela Carini walked out of their match, which she later apologized for, Khelif persisted and won Algeria’s first-ever gold medal in women’s boxing. The controversy extended beyond the ring, with Khelif filing a lawsuit against high-profile figures like Elon Musk and J.K. Rowling for alleged cyberbullying.

Imane Khelif

In a recent press conference, Khelif revealed her plans to enter professional boxing, stating that she has received multiple offers but hasn’t decided where she will make her professional debut. She expressed her desire to showcase Algerian talent at the professional level. Additionally, Khelif mentioned that a documentary about her success story is in preparation and will be shown on international platforms.

Imane Khelif’s Olympic success and the publicity surrounding her case have made her one of the most well-known female boxers globally, which could potentially benefit her professional career. However, she may continue to face scrutiny and debate as Imane Khelif transitions to the professional ranks.

Francis Ngannou’s Next Challenge: MMA or Boxing? PFL Champ Aims for 2025 Comeback

Francis Ngannou

After capturing the heavyweight title in the PFL, Francis Ngannou is uncertain whether he will have his next match boxing or MMA. But ideally, the Cameroonian-born athlete will return to action sometime in 2025.

Francis Ngannou Next Fight

The 38-year-old Francis Ngannou had tremendous success competing in MMA with the UFC. He was feared for his punching power and was able to capture the UFC heavyweight world title by way of knockout. After successfully defending this championship he walked away from the organization.

Once he left the UFC, Francis Ngannou had massive payday offers for him in boxing and with the PFL. He had two blockbuster boxing matches facing champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. In the PFL, competing in MMA, he was able to stop the top-ranked knockout striker Renan Ferreira, who was a PFL champion.

After defeating Renan Ferreira by first-round knockout, Francis Ngannou has two options ahead of him: compete in MMA with the PFL or have a boxing match. Speaking in an interview with Ariel Helwani, he explained:

“It could be either one (MMA or boxing). I don’t know yet. I don’t have any hand in that one. I don’t have a decision. I think it also depends on promotion. I don’t know. If next, PFL, they come up with something with a fight or a date, maybe we’ll work on it. If it’s boxing, same thing.” [Ht MyMMANews]

Either way, ‘The Predator’ Ngannou is set to make millions of dollars. In MMA, with the PFL, he is getting paid over $10 million per fight plus bonuses. His two boxing matches earned him a combined $30 million. Additionally, he is able to help build up the sport as the leader of PFL Africa, and he has peace of mind because in MMA he has guaranteed his opponent a massive payday giving them at least $2 million for fighting him in the PFL.
