JP Joubert recently came away with the win and a cracked skull, two things that would seem to be mutually exclusive.

Big Lead Sports spotted this remarkable tale of one MMA fighter getting his dome broken only to leave the cage the victor.

Now is not the time to whine about your stubbed toe or muscle cramps from your morning jog.

Big Lead Sports has actual video of the fight that caused Joubert one ridiculous headache, one that led to this amazing picture.

Joubert answered one of his fans with a CT Scan that is simply painful to look at.

That dent where a smoothed-out skull should be is the result of one too many blows to the head at the light heavyweight championship fight at EFC Africa 15 last month.

As the report issues, Joubert managed to beat Norman Wessels despite the awful injury, which was apparently one of many on a raucous night of fighting.

EFC Africa has a report on the night’s injuries. Among them is Joubert’s listed as the following: “Frontal sinus fracture and concussion. Transported to hospital for CT scan and treatment.”

We applaud the man for staying in the fight and finishing what he started. But really, feel free to throw in the towel when your skull gets broken.

Five seconds is all Veronica Rothenhausler needs to cave in a perfectly fine face.

Yahoo Sports gives more information on a video that features a brief moment of excellence, at least from the victor, Rothenhausler.

The video comes from the recent Tuff-n-Uff bout and is only the third fight for Rothenhausler. The last time she fought, she decimated Noelle Cherry in, you guessed it, five seconds.

As for the unfortunate loser in this bout, Ashlee Evans-Smith will think twice next time she scoffs at touching gloves before the round starts.

Had she just given a little dap, this fight may have lasted seven seconds.

In just her third bout, Rothenhausler seemed to ask Evans-Smith if she wanted to touch gloves before the fight.

Her opponent declined, wanting get on with the clash. That might be the only explanation for allowing face to meet fist so abruptly.

Evans-Smith immediately went to the ground following a brief combo from Rothenhausler, and the official called off the fight before anyone lost their breath.

Her next opponent may not need any endurance training, because the fight should be over before anyone breaks a sweat.

Ronda Rousey: Scathing Statements Add to MMA Fighter’s Ascending Popularity

How many of you really knew Ronda Rousey before ESPN’s Body Issue released her tantalizing photographs? You probably knew the name, but that’s nothing compared to what her name is now.

Rousey has enjoyed a meteoric rise in popularity over the last week. She was chosen as a Body Issue cover athlete, and further increased her notoriety with comments she directed at one of America’s most famous socialites, Kim Kardashian.

After saying she would “beat the crap out of” Kardashian, Rousey added (per the New York Post):

Why is everyone slipping it under the carpet now? She’s selling Skechers to 13-year-olds. I don’t want a girl whose entire fame is based on a sex video to be selling Skechers to my 13-year-old little sister.

Rousey has a point, but that’s not the point. She’s become a headline figure almost overnight, and she’s done it with things entirely unrelated to her respective sport.

I’m not saying Rousey is a bad fighter (after those comments, I wouldn’t dare), but her popularity isn’t widespread because of that. She is currently Strikeforce’s Bantamweight champion, but attacking one of America’s most famous celebrities does more for her reputation than her fighting ever would.

People go cuckoo for this stuff. It’s plain and simple. Regular people live for sound bytes and controversy, and Rousey provided both in a 30-second span of time.

I don’t think she did this deliberately. Rousey is pestered repeatedly by the reporter before she finally reveals her real thoughts on Kardashian, but she put them out there nonetheless.

Those words will do more for her popularity than any fight for Strikeforce would ever do. It doesn’t matter how good she becomes. Rousey will always be “that female fighter who wanted to beat up Kim Kardashian.”

Rousey had already got a ton of publicity for her risque cover photos in this year’s Body Issue.

These comments make her name even bigger.

Arianny Celeste Mugshot Paints Teary Picture of Arrest

UFC ring girl Arianny Celeste has illustrated the proper and sane method of taking a mug shot.

TMZ obtained the mug shot of the model, and it’s pretty much how I would look if I were ever taken into custody. Well, if I also had the face of a model, I mean.

Per the report, Celeste was arrested on Saturday morning in Nevada on suspicion of domestic violence. UFC President Dana White has since come forward to back Celeste, according to the report.

Arianny is our baby. She has been with us for over five years. She is a good girl and an amazing ambassador for UFC. I don’t know all the details of what happened but we have her back and support her 100 percent.

Fox News 5 in Las Vegas has a bit more from the incident, reporting the fight was a “booze-fueled” altercation with her boyfriend that lead to a trashed room at Wynn Las Vegas.

The alleged boyfriend, 34-year-old Praveen Chandra, was also taken into custody and charged with domestic violence.

Per the report:

Police said the fight started in a limo on the way to Wynn Las Vegas, when Celeste took Chandra’s phone and accused him of sending text messages to other women.

Chandra claimed Celeste kicked him in the nose, and Celeste accused Chandra of choking her and squeezing her arm in their hotel room.

It sounds like an intense few moments that will soon be answered for.

We are used to Celeste rocking a bright smile and captivating audiences with her gorgeous figure, but this report paints quite a different picture of the lovely lady.

Celeste, at the very least, appears emotionally distraught in this mug shot.

There is nothing lighthearted about domestic abuse, no matter who is responsible for the violence, and it’s clear that Celeste is beyond affected by this matter.

We certainly hope this is the last time we see her mixed up on this kind of awfulness. Perhaps it’s time these two distance themselves for good.

Marvel Studios’ blockbuster film The Avengers has taken over the pop culture world since its highly anticipated domestic release last week.

Assembling some of Earth’s mightiest heroes together on screen for the first time, this action packed hit is shattering box office records as it closes in on grossing a billion dollars globally.

While these extraordinary characters may only live in Marvel’s cinematic universe, that doesn’t mean that the real Earth isn’t in need of butt-kicking superheroes. In sports, there’s no better group to take up this mantle than the world’s toughest athletes—MMA fighters.

If Samuel L. Jackson ever decides to start the Avengers Initiative in real life, here are the guys—and gals—that could definitely suit up to stop an alien invasion.
