It may not have featured the most amount of pre-fight hype and anticipation, but today’s (Sat., March 18, 2017) UFC Fight Night 107 from the O2 Arena in London, England, featured three hard-hitting finishes on the main card in addition to several other impressive performances.

In the main event, hometown fan favorite slugger Jimi Manuwa extended his streak of vicious one-punch knockouts to two by starching Corey Anderson with a short but devastating left hook, while Gunnar Nelson put on a clinic in all facets of MMA by ending the momentum of dangerous striker Alan Jouban with a picture-perfect right hand that quickly lead to a fight-ending submission.

In other action, beloved British star Brad “One Punch” Pickett fell short in his final MMA bout when short-notice replacement Marlon Vera finished the tough veteran fighter with a third-round head kick in a bout Pickett was possibly winning two rounds to none on the scorecards.

UFC Fight Night 107’s main card featured the retirement fight of Brad “One Punch” Pickett in front of his home crowd at the O2 Arena in London, England. The storybook ending eluded him today (Saturday, March 18, 2017), as one of the most beloved action fighters in MMA history succumbed to Marlon Vera in the third round. Pickett likely took the first two rounds on the back of his wrestling and ground and pound. But when the final round came, Pickett seemed to be running out of gas. Vera scored consistently with punches and kicks, Pickett returning fire less and less often. Finally, Vera dropped Pickett with a clean head kick and finished the job with follow-up hammerfists. MMA Twitter collectively wept.

See the reaction to the heartbreaking end to one of the most lauded careers in history.

Longtime MMA and UFC fan favorite Brad “One Punch” Pickett was looking for one final win when he met short-notice replacement Marlon “Chito” Vera on the main card of today’s (Sat., March 18, 2017) UFC Fight Night 107 from the O2 Arena in London, England.

But the hometown fighter was unfortunately unable to close out a victory after arguably winning the first two rounds with two takedowns and some solid punches, as Vera took advantage of the massive opportunity by knocking out “One Punch” with a stinging head kick and some follow-up punches after coming out firing in the third and final round.

It was an extremely emotional sendoff for the London-born “One Punch,” who understandably wore the disappointment as he issued a heartfelt thank you to his fans. Watch the riveting knockout in Pickett’s last bout:
