The UFC Busan poster has officially been released.

The promotion returns to South Korea on December 21 in Busan where a highly-anticipated featherweight matchup between Brian Ortega and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung will headline the show.

Ortega hasn’t competed since getting outclassed by Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 231 last December. It was the first loss of his professional career.

As for Jung, he bounced back from that infamous last-second knockout to Yair Rodriguez with a quick first-round TKO win over Renato Moicano in the UFC Greenville headliner earlier this summer.

The two exciting featherweights will now collide in a bout that could determine who faces the champion next. Current champion Holloway is set to defend his title against Alexander Volkanovski a few days earlier at UFC 245.

You can view the poster below:

The action doesn’t end there as there will also be more featherweights in action including the returning “Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi who meets Charles Jourdain.

The co-main event features an explosive light heavyweight bout between former title challenger Volkan Oezdemir and young prospect Aleksandar Rakic.

What do you think of the UFC Busan poster? And who do you think wins in the main event?

Brian Ortega: If Anyone Can Beat Khabib, It’s Tony Ferguson – Or Me

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the most dominant champions mixed martial arts (MMA) has ever seen. He has admitted he doesn’t have much time left in his career, and plans to retire soon. If he can remain undefeated, reaching a mark of 30-0 before hanging up his gloves, he has a case for being the greatest of all time.

However, former UFC featherweight title challenger Brian Ortega believes “The Eagle” is beatable. Speaking to “Kumite TV” (H/T MMA Junkie) recently, Ortega believes, if anyone can beat Nurmagomedov, it’s ex-interim 155-pound champion Tony Ferguson. If not, Ortega believes he can get the job done himself.

“Tony is an amazing athlete – (and) he’s a great jiu-jitsu guard player as well,” Ortega said. “But when I see things, there’s just certain positions that I feel like I’m better at than certain people, and vice-versa, they’re better than me in certain positions.

“But the positions that Khabib is amazing at, I’m equally as amazing from the bottom of the coin. I feel like if anyone’s going to beat him, it’s Ferguson. And if not, we’re going to have to wait until I come up.”

Ferguson has racked up a lengthy win streak in the lightweight division, but a matchup with Nurmagomedov has long eluded him due to various injuries and other mishaps. Now, however, it seems like the stars might be perfectly aligned for the two to finally square off in early 2020.

What do you make of Ortega’s comments on Khabib and Ferguson?

Chan Sung Jung and Brian Ortega will finally get their opportunity to clash inside the Octagon. The pair had been jawing off at one another on social media over the past several weeks after an initial bout at UFC Mexico City between them fell through.

Now, Jung and Ortega headline UFC Busan in South Korea inside the Sajik Arena on December 21. Earlier this week, Ortega and Jung met at a press conference to promote the card. During the presser, Ortega noted he believes jiu-jitsu is a hole he plans to exploit in “The Korean Zombie’s” game.

Jung responded by disagreeing with Ortega’s assessment, suggesting he believes he’s actually a better grappler than “T-City.” (H/T MMA Junkie)

“I don’t necessarily agree,” Jung said. “I think my jiu-jitsu is strong. I think I’m actually better at it and I am a better grappler.”

Ortega seemed amused by the answer, so much so that he had to ask the translator to again ask Jung if he believes his grappling is better than his. When Jung replied with, “Yes,” Ortega smiled and pointed to the ground before commenting “Let’s go.”

What do you think about Jung claiming to be a better grappler than Ortega?

Brian Ortega’s UFC return is set. The UFC announced earlier today (Mon. September 23, 2019) that “T-City” will take on “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung.

The fight has been building up for quite some time as the two have gone back-and-forth through the media in recent weeks. Now, they’ll headline the December 21 card from Jung’s backyard of Busan, South Korea inside the Sajik Arena. Given the personal animosity between the pair, the headliner should make for quite the matchup.

Ortega was undefeated in his professional mixed martial arts (MMA) career, racking up a record of 14-0. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace met his match against current 145-pound champion Max Holloway at UFC 231 last December. After taking a beating on the feet, Ortega was defeated via TKO due to a doctor stoppage after the fourth round. Now, over a year later, he’ll attempt to bounce back against a knockout artist in Jung.

“The Korean Zombie” has won two of his last three bouts, his most recent outing resulting in a first-round stoppage victory over Renato Moicano in South Carolina. The 32-year-old is still in the prime of his career, and is gunning for another shot at the featherweight title after a failed bid back in 2013 when he was defeated by Jose Aldo.

Currently, only two other fights have been announced for the UFC Busan card. Alexandre Pantoja will take on Matt Schnell at flyweight, while light heavyweights Volkan Oezdemir and Aleksandar Raki? go to battle in what should be an explosive affair.

What do you think about the Ortega vs. Jung matchup?
