During last night’s “WEC 49: Varner vs. Shalorus” post-fight press conference, WEC official Reed Harris announced the “Fight Night” bonuses for the event.

Walking away with a $10,000 bonus were Mark Hominick and Yves Jabouin for “Fight of the Night,” while Eddie Wineland earned the “Knockout of the Night,” and “Submission of the Night” was warded to Josh Grispi.

Hominick and Jabouin fought in the co-main event and saw both men push the pace. Near the middle of the second frame, Hominick put Jabouin into the fence and presses the attack. Jabouin climbs back to his feet and responds with a right hand that put’s Hominick on the mat. As Jabouin jumps in to finish he’s caught in Hominick’s guard who rolls him over to gain mount and finishes the fight.

Wineland was awarded the “Knockout of the Night” after stopping opponent Will Campuzano in the second round at 4:44. Wineland used a couple of tough body shots to Campuzano to put him to the mat and finishes with a good shot to the jaw to win the fight.

Grispi won the “Submission of the Night” after submitting opponent L.C. Davis in the middle of the first round. He beat out four other fighters who also earned submission victories on the evening. Davis refused to tap out and was put into unconsciousness by the choke.

A total of $100,000 was handed out to four fighters from Saturday’s “The Ultimate Fighter 11″ Finale event. Earning $25K each were Matt Hamill, Keith Jardine, Chris Leben, and Court McGee for their work in the octagon.

The event, which took place at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, reportedly drew a total of 1,708 fans for a live gate total of $430,250.

All of the winners took part on the Spike TV televised portion of the event, with Matt Hamill and Keith Jardine earning the “Fight of the Night” award. While “Knockout of the Night” went to Chris Leben and the “Submission of the Night” went to “TUF 11″ tournament winner Court McGee.

Hamill and Jardine fought a three round battle that left both men bloody, but the saw the “Dean of Mean” take the most punishment due to several cuts. One in the middle of his forehead left the octagon mat as well as both fighters covered in blood. For that, both men received the “Fight of the Night” award.

Leben earned his second career UFC “Knockout of the Night” award after defeating Aaron Simpson late in the second round by TKO (punches). “The Crippler” looked very good against Simpson and showed the strength of his chin after taking several strong punches. After stopping a takedown, Leben opened up with some punches, catching Simpson and sending him stumbling across the octagon trying to escape. The referee was then forced to step in and stop the fight.

In the main event, Court McGee caught opposing Team Ortiz/Franklin fighter Kris McCray in the second round with a rear-naked-choke, after controlling the fight on the ground. For submitting McCray, as well as earning the only submission victory of the whole card, McGee was given the “Submission of the Night” award.

UFC Moves Versus Event From Salt Lake City To San Diego

UFC president Dana White cited the move due to poor ticket sales for the event as the main reason. Nearly half of Utah’s resident’s belong to the Mormon church, and with the event being on a Sunday, will be in church instead of the arena.

In a press release, White made this statement.

“Our television ratings in Salt Lake City have always been strong, and when we finally found the opportunity to bring a UFC event there with a great card, I was very surprised and disappointed in ticket sales. As a result, for the first time in UFC history, I decided to pull the plug and move this August 1st event to the San Diego Sports Arena.”

Those people who purchased tickets for the Salt Lake City event will receive a full refund and tickets for the new San Diego show will go on sale June 19 at 1 PM (EST).

Earning $85,000 for their efforts were Carlos Condit, Rory MacDonald, Rich Franklin and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. The “Fight Night” bonus was $20,000 higher than the $65,000 bonuses handed out at the promotions last event, UFC 114 which took place in Las Vegas.

Carlos Condit and Rory MacDonald each received the $85,000 bonus for earning the “Fight of the Night” honor. MacDonald had been winning the first two rounds but slowed in the third and was caught in the dying moments of the third by Condit as he unleashed a vicious ground-and-pound attack on the Canadian. Referee Kevin Doman stepped in with only 7 seconds remaining to award Condit the TKO victory at 4:53 of the third.

Rich Franklin was given the “Knockout of the Night” award after he put the “Iceman” Chuck Liddell, on ice at 4:55 of the first round. The round was exciting to watch with both men trading hard shots, but Franklin managed to land a short straight right hand dropping Liddell to the mat out cold. It was revealed after the bout that one of the “Iceman’s” high kicks had broken Franklin’s left arm.

The “Submission of the Night” honor was awarded to former PRIDE champ Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic who earned a rare submission victory over Pat Barry. Both men walked away pretty banged up in a fight most critics thought would end with a knockout. Filipovic, who suffered some early knockdowns, was able to press the attack in the third on a tired Barry and dropped him to the mat. The Croatian quickly followed his opponent to the mat, dropping several short punches but quickly sunk in the rear-naked-choke on Barry when he exposed his neck, and forced the submission at 4:30 of the third.
