Conor McGregor to Canelo Alvarez you little ginger sausage I'd beat you with no hands

Former undisputed UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, Conor McGregor has hit out at undisputed boxing world champion, Canelo Alvarez tonight on his social media – after recently calling for a fight with the Mexican gold holder.

McGregor, 34, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight titleholder under the banner of the UFC, has been sidelined from active competition since July 2021, fracturing his left tibia and fibula en route to a first round doctor’s stoppage TKO loss against Dustin Poirier.

As for Canelo, the undisputed WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF super middleweight champion, made a successful homecoming earlier this month in a Mexico showdown with British contender, John Ryder turning in a criticized, albeit one-sided unanimous decision victory – improving to 59-2-2 as a professional.

Receiving a rather bizarre and heated call out from Dublin striker, McGregor last week ahead of a super lightweight fight between Chantelle Cameron, and Katie Taylor – Canelo was described as “waning” by the Crumlin native off the back of his home soil judging victory.

Conor McGregor once more reverts attention to Canelo Alvarez

Replying to McGregor’s call out, Jalisco favorite, Canelo claimed he would defeat the mixed martial arts star with just a single hand – leading to another fiery response from the former duel-weight gold holder on his social media tonight.

“Canelo (Alvarez) you little ginger sausage,” Conor McGregor tweeted. “I’d beat you with NO HANDS. Don’t forget.”

Expected to make his speculated return to the USADA anti-doping testing pool next month ahead of an Octagon return – potentially at UFC 296 in December of this year, McGregor is all but slated to fight former lightweight title challenger, Michael Chandler in a welterweight clash, having coached The Ultimate Fighter 31 against the Missouri veteran earlier this year.

McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion under the promotion’s banner, has been sidelined from active competition since fracturing his left tibia and fibula en route to a doctor’s stoppage TKO loss against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

As for Canelo, the undisputed super middleweight champion most recently turned in a unanimous decision win over British challenger, John Ryder in a Mexico homecoming at the beginning of this month. The triumph saw Canelo retain his championship titles and improve to 59-2-2 as a professional.

Previously sharing the squared circle with a common-foe back in 2017, McGregor suffered an eventual tenth round standing TKO loss to former undisputed world champion, the unbeaten, Floyd Mayweather, in his sole venture in professional boxing.

However, finding himself continually linked to a return to the sport in the future in the wake of his impending UFC comeback, McGregor has offered to fight Canelo next, describing the Mexican puncher as “waning”.

“I’m a southpaw, John Ryder’s a southpaw, Billy Joe Saunders is a southpaw,” Conor McGregor said during a media scrum. “I’ve seen methods, I’ve seen things I do. And I know he’s waning.”

“I’d fight Canelo (Alvarez),” Conor McGregor explained. “No f*cking problem.”

Expected to make his Octagon return before the close of this year, McGregor confirmed to boot that he would fighting former lightweight championship challenger, Michael Chandler before the turn of the year.

Competing in Mexico for the first time in more than a decade, boxing sensation Canelo Alvarez put his undisputed super middleweight world title on the line against British standout John Ryder.

Emanating from the Estadio Akron in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, John Ryder came out aggressive in the first round, but it was Canelo Alvarez that got the crowd’s attention, landing a big overhand right. The first two rounds stayed fairly competitive, but the tide turned in the third with Alvarez landing at will. Ryder began to wear the damage that Alvarez was inflicting. Despite being clearly outmatched, Ryder continued to stay in close and attempted to keep things competitive.

In the fifth round, Canelo Alvarez uncorked a vicious right hook that connected clean and sent Ryder to the canvas. He was able to answer the 10-count and the bout continued. From that point, Alvarez remained in control, though Ryder was far from throwing in the towel. In the closing seconds of the eighth round, Alvarez landed another massive right hand that dropped Ryder. ‘The Gorilla’ was able to answer the 10-count and make it to his corner for the ninth round.

The final three rounds remained competitive as Ryder continued to target the body, but he had no answer for Canelo Alvarez’s big right hand which landed practically at will. Alvarez did show signs of slowing down in the later rounds, allowing Ryder the opportunity to fight till the finish.

Official Result: Canelo Alvarez def. John Ryder via unanimous decision (120-107, 118-109, 118-109)

Canelo Alvarez vs. John Ryder - Betting Preview

Slated to make his first outing on home soil in Guadalajara, Mexico for the first time since a 2011 knockout win over Kermit Cintron, undisputed middleweight champion, Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is closing quickly as a sizeable betting favorite to successfully defend his title against American challenger, John Ryder in a highly-anticipated homecoming

Canelo, a decorated undisputed middleweight champion, defends his WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, super titles in a return to his Mexico for the first in 12 years, attempting to continue his roughshod run in the division since taking home a decision win over Gennady Golovkin in the pair’s title trilogy fight back in September of last year.

The Jalisco puncher has only suffered two professional defeats during his gold-laden professional career, dropping a 2013 majority decision loss to former multiple weight world champion, Floyd Mayweather, before suffering a decision loss to Dmitry Bivol in May of last year in a WBA light heavyweight title fight.

And drawing London veteran, Ryder this weekend in Guadalajara, Canelo has been picked as short as a -1,400 over at BetWay to beat the British fighter on Friday.

As for Ryder, the 36-year-old former interim WBA middleweight titleholder is sitting as a massive underdog to defeat Canelo this weekend, placed currently as high as a +700 underdog to emerge victorious in Mexico with middleweight championship spoils in tow.

Furthermore, according to BetWay, Canelo is sat currently as low as a -350 to finish Ryder with strikes at any point during their 12-round scheduled title fight this Friday night in the Estadio Arkon.

58-2-2 as a professional, Canelo, who is widely regarded as one of the best fighters of all time and argualby the greatest middleweight of his generation, has racked up victories over the sport’s who’s who time and time again.

A native of Guadalajara, Canelo, 32, has defeated the likes of Carlos Baldomir, Shane Mosley, Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara, James Kirkland, Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan, Liam Smith, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Gennady Golovkin, Daniel Jacobs, Sergey Kovalev, Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, and Caleb PLant to name a few.

As for Ryder, the Islington native, who holds 18 professional knockout victories over the course of his storied professional career, has been defeated by common-foes, Rocky Fielding, Callum Smith, and Bill Joe Saunders during his career, to go with losses against Nick Blackwell, and Jack Arnfield.

In the midst of a four-fight undefeated run which includes a victory over another common-opponent, Daniel Jacobs, Ryder most recently struck interim WBO gold with a fifth round win over Zach Parker.

Despite landing 18 career knockout triumphs, Ryder has been placed as high as +1,700 to finish Canelo with a knockout win of his own this weekend in Mexico – with the hometown favorite suffering just decision losses during his spectacular professional boxing career.

An interesting prop bet available for this weekend’s fight see’s Canelo sat as a -6,600 favorite to take out Ryder inside just a minute of the opening round in Guadalajara, while the British boxer is placed as a whopping +25,000 to dispatch the defending middleweight gold holder in the same method and timeframe.
