Cat Zingano, Cris "Cyborg" Justino

Bellator fighter and former UFC title challenger Cat Zingano thinks Cris “Cyborg” Justino may be doping again ahead of their potential fight.

Zingano hasn’t fought since her first-round submission over Olivia Parker at Bellator 256. After an up-and-down tenure in the UFC, she is undefeated through two fights in the Bellator cage.

Zingano is on the rise in the Bellator featherweight division and could face the champion, Justino sooner rather than later. Justino most recently earned a vicious first-round knockout over Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 271.

While Justino is widely considered to be one of the greatest female MMA fighters of all time, her legacy remains complicated. She’s tested positive for steroids in the past and even had her license suspended in California.

Fighters such as former UFC champion Ronda Rousey have criticized and accused Justino of doping. UFC president Dana White has also had his fair share of harsh comments directed at Justino and her history with performance-enhancing drugs.

Wednesday, Zingano aimed at Justino with the following tweet.

“Hearing [Justino] is refusing to drug test,” Zingano tweeted.

Zingano could be on the verge of a matchup with Cyborg with another win. The two had informally agreed to fight one another next, but now Zingano is alluding to her next matchup being set for the spring and a potential fight with the featherweight champ in the summer.

“I have been told my opponent and that it’s a number one contender match set for March 11,” Zingano said. “That’ll give someone plenty of time to get their shit together enough to fight me by summer.”

Zingano is one of the few Bellator featherweights who hasn’t competed against Justino in the cage. The promotion was in preliminary talks to sign PFL champ Kayla Harrison to the roster, but it sounds like Harrison will likely re-sign with the PFL in free agency.

Justino has yet to respond to Zingano’s comments and allegations.

Cris Cyborg is down to face Cat Zingano next.

Cyborg recently defended her women’s featherweight title with a dominant first-round knockout victory over Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 271 earlier this month.

Following the fight, Zingano called to face Cyborg next to which the latter responded.

Of course, nothing is confirmed yet and the decision is all up to Bellator and Scott Coker. But if it does end up happening, Cyborg is happy for the opportunity to face one of the big names in WMMA.

“I don’t pick who I want to fight, but you threw that and if it happens, it happens,” Cyborg told MMA Junkie. “Cat Zingano is a great fight. The girl beat Amanda Nunes, the last one to beat Amanda Nunes, and she’s undefeated in Bellator, and I’m happy to have the opportunity to fight her.”

Cris Cyborg Happy To Have Quick Turnaround

If Cyborg ends up fighting Zingano in January as she wishes, it would also be a quick turnaround for the Brazilian which is something she’s always looking to have.

“It’s nice when I have a quick turnaround,” Cyborg said. “Just rest a little bit then back to training again. It’s very nice, it’s a long camp, but I train everyday. So if I train everyday, it’s not just training for the camp. I train everyday, so when it’s close to the fight, I just make a plan on how the fight is gonna work, the game plan of the fight.”

Halle Berry & Cat Zingano

In light of Cat Zingano’s lawsuit against Halle Berry, Berry’s lawyers maintain that “Alpha” was released by the UFC due to her lackluster fighting record and not his client.

Bellator MMA fighter Cat Zingano sued Halle Berry, Bruised Film Productions LLC, Thunder Road Film Productions Inc. and Romulus Entertainment LLC on Aug. 16 in Los Angeles Superior Court. According to Zingano, she missed out on a crucial UFC fight when Berry insisted that she keep a clear schedule to star in the MMA-based film “Bruised.”

In the suit, Zingano alleges that she turned down a UFC fight a week after Berry asked her to keep open availability. The UFC released Zingano in 2019. In the same month of being released, the lawsuit states Berry allegedly retracted her offer with Zingano after saying that only UFC fighters could take part in the film.

In recent court filings on Tuesday, Halle Berry’s legal representation revealed documents that suggest Zingano was released by the UFC in 2019 after losing four of her last five bouts. Additionally, the documents also allege that Zingano made the decision to appear in the film without knowing what role she would play or how much she would be compensated.

With the impending global release of Halle Berry’s film “Bruised,” the Hollywood actress’ lawyer believes Zingano is more or less looking for a cash grab.

“Although these events took place two years ago, Zingano filed this suit recently to cash in on the film’s Netflix release on Nov. 24 …,” Berry’s legal team states in their court papers.

Berry’s lawyers also added that Zingano’s lawsuit improperly seeks punitive damages. According to the attorneys’ court papers, the suit against Berry does not allege what damages actually occurred.

Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino may have her next Bellator opponent all set.

Cyborg is fresh off her recent Bellator win but is already accepting a new challenger. On Twitter, former UFC title contender Cat Zingano is calling for her first title shot in Bellator. She called out Cyborg for a fight, anywhere, and Cyborg responded with some details.

“January. LA,” Cyborg wrote.

Cyborg has been unstoppable since she joined Bellator back in Jan. 2020. She swiftly won the belt, beating champ Julia Budd, in her first outing, and now has defended it three times. Her most recent defense came just last weekend over Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 271. Since coming to this new promotion no challenger has gone the distance with the champ.

Zingano is in a similar boat as Cyborg. She had her time in the UFC, but unlike Cyborg never held the belt there. She signed with Bellator in Oct. 2019 but didn’t make her debut until the following year. She has now won two in the featherweight division and has been gunning for a title shot.

As it sits right now, Zingano is number two in the Bellator featherweight rankings. She currently sits behind Arlene Blencowe, who already had a shot at the champ. It seems it is indeed Zinagano’s turn. She is also number seven in the women’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Zingano has been vocal about wanting a shot at the champ since they were both in the UFC. Now it seems the stars are aligning and with both sides interested the promotion just needs to hash out the details. Los Angeles seems a good choice on location as Bellator has been holding events there more recently and it is home to Cyborg.

Former UFC title challenger, Cat Zingano is suing Halle Berry for damages.

‘Alpha’ claims Berry offered her a role in her latest movie ‘Bruised’ only to be snubbed after turning down a “big fight” to take part in the project.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Zingano claims she met with Berry in July 2019 to talk about the MMA movie. The conversation went well and ended with the Oscar winner telling Zingano she was perfect for the project.

The bantamweight fighter, who now competes in Bellator, was told to keep her schedule clear as filming would soon commence. However, the UFC soon came calling with a big fight offer and Zingano agonized about if she should accept the bout or feature in Berry’s movie.

On the advice of Berry, Zingano turned down the fight offer and was subsequently released by the UFC. After filling the Hollywood superstar in on her release from MMA’s premier promotion, Zingano claims she was cut from the movie. Berry told her that the movie could only work with UFC fighters.

Since then, Berry has cut off all communication with Zingano who is suing for damages after getting screwed because Berry failed to keep her promise.
