Kelvin Gastelum and Chris Curtis are scheduled for a middleweight fight on April 8 at UFC 287. The fight was originally reported by Alex Behunin.
Gastelum(16-8-1 NC) is looking to bounce back from back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Jared Cannonier and Robert Whittaker. He was originally slated to headline the first event of the year against Nassourdine Imavov but was forced to withdraw from the bout due to a mouth injury. Since competing for the interim middleweight title against Israel Adesanya in 2019, Gastelum has gone 1-5 in his last six fights. Now, the former middleweight title contender is booked to compete in his first fight of 2023.
Curtis (30-9) last competed at UFC 282, where he secured a second-round knockout over Joaquin Buckley. He’s 9-1 in his last 10 fights. He has UFC wins over Buckley, Rodolfo Vieira, Brendan Allen, and Phil Hawes. The No.14 middleweight will be looking for a better spot in the rankings with a win over No.13 Gastelum.
The location and venue of the April pay-per-view has not been announced by the UFC.
Sean Strickland has recently offered to fight internet sensation Commander Dale Brown from Detroit Urban and Survival Training. In the UFC, Dale from D.U.S.T was last seen cornering Joaquin Buckley for his fight vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan at UFC Vegas 48. There has been much speculation as to whether Brown is a legitimate self-defense expert […]
There has been much speculation as to whether Brown is a legitimate self-defense expert or just an internet troll.
If it weren’t apparent before, Strickland’s love for fighting is unparalleled. As if two main event headliners in a row for Strickland weren’t enough, Sean has now extended a lucrative offer to Dale to fight him. Via Alex Behunin on Twitter, Sean offered Dale:
“I will buy your plane ticket; I will put you in whatever hotel you want. I will take two-hundred thousand dollars in cash and put it in the sand, and you can have that money. All you have to do is beat me, just say when man. I promise we will do this whenever you want. The problem is you’re a fraud, you’re a phony, you’re a con artist…”
Recently, videos have emerged on the internet of Strickland and Dale meeting, where they get into a light scuffle. Dale, getting his fame from the internet and TikTok, seems keen to accept Strickland’s proposal.
Chris Curtis Sides with Sean Strickland, Calls for Dale to accept the Fight
UFC Welterweight and Strickland’s teammate Chris Curtis added his input to the situation via Twitter. Curtis believes “the challenge must be met”.
Will the time finally come that we get to see if Commander Dale Brown is legitimate? None other than Sean Strickland will hopefully be the one to find out.

Conor McGregor Says Competing In BKFC Could Be An Option After UFC Run
Conor McGregor has completed his first press conference for BKFC since becoming a part-owner of the promotion in April.
He spoke ahead of BKFC 67 where “The Notorious” seemed to suggest that part of his investment in this company could see him take off the gloves and jump in the ring.
Referring to the fighters that are set to compete on October 12 in Marbella, he said that he’s not just here to talk about these athletes but potentially mix it up with them also.
“For me, I’ve a bit of business left with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, two fights left on my contract but for sure, we’ve got three lightweights up here on the deas and you know I have my eye on all of this. I’m not up here just as an owner, player-manager I’ll title myself on this one.”
Magomed Ankalaev Recalls Heated Sparring Session With Francis Ngannou
During a recent appearance on the Badaev Podcast, light heavyweight contender Magomed Ankalaev told a story about an encounter that he had with Francis Ngannou.
Ankalaev claims that the two men sparred with one another some time ago until the former UFC heavyweight champion started to become overly aggressive towards him.
He was left with no option but to try and avoid any danger by grabbing hold of his sparring partner until the end of the round.
Ankalaev also states that he believes the reason Ngannou was going so hard at him in sparring was because he had knocked out one of his friends back in 2019.
“I saw that [Ngannou] wanted to drop me. He was generally aggressive. I quickly went to his feet, put him down and held him. I was waiting for the time to run out so I could say ‘don’t come near me again’. Then we found out the reason – it turns out he is a friend of [Dalcha] Lungiambula whom I had knocked out before.”
Chris Curtis Calls To Fight Paulo Costa And Says It Will Be Much More Entertaining Than Costa’s Fight With Sean Strickland
In a recent interview on MMA Junkie Radio, “Action Man” said that a match-up between himself and Costa would be a much more entertaining affair than Costa’s last outing against Curtis’s friend and teammate, Sean Strickland.
Curtis reflected how he studied “Borrachinha” extensively for that fight but the styles simply didn’t gel well in the co-main event of UFC 302.
He believes that he and Costa would make for a far better watch because unlike Strickland, he will be willing to stand in front of the Brazilian to trade strikes.
“I cornered Sean that fight. When he took that fight…I literally went back, watched all of the Costa fights, and I had like a freakin’ four-page bulletin report on what to do…everything that Costa does, when he does it, why I think he does it,” Curtis said. “I just think it’s a fight that I match up well with.
“Costa’s usually a really fun guy to watch but the Strickland fight was just weird for him because Sean’s a weird guy to fight,” Curtis continued. “I think me and Costa, I think we can just sit there and beat on each other until somebody falls, and I’m okay with that. Sean doesn’t want to fight that way. He’s not trying to get his head bust in. I will gladly stand in front of you and we will just swing at each other.”

Rebounding from his first Octagon loss earlier this year, middleweight division favorite, Chris Curtis turns in another stunning knockout win — this time flattening fellow finishing ace, Joaquin Buckley with a brutal second round slew of ground strikes on the preliminary card of UFC 282.
Curtis, who suffered a unanimous decision loss to recent UFC Orlando feature, Jack Hermansson back in July of this year, was tasked with returning to winning ways against Buckley tonight — having previously landed back-to-back UFC wins over Phil Hawes, Brendan Allen, and Rodolfo Vieira.
Moving with offense coming his way from Buckley in the center of the Octagon during a second round exchange, Curtis managed to absorb a left high-kick attempt from the former — firing home himself with a counter straight left, dropping Buckley.
Immediately raining down with a series of heavy ground strikes, Curtis forced the issue and landed a second round ground strikes KO win against Buckley — landing his fourth win under the banner of the Dana White-led promotion.
Below, catch the highlights from Chris Curtis’ KO win against Joaquin Buckley

UFC middleweight Chris Curtis is ready and willing to go to war this Saturday night.
Curtis is set to take on fellow 185er’ Joaquin Buckley as part of the UFC 282 card at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, in what is set to be a battle between two dynamic strikers.
Talking to LowKickMMA, Curtis expressed his desire to engage in warfare with Buckley, almost giddy at the thought of violence.
“I saw him [Buckley] at the PI last week,” said Curtis. “He was like ‘you’re not gonna take me down are you?’”
“I will make you a deal Joaquin Buckley, I will not take you down if you don’t make me chase you. We will meet in the middle and we’ll shake hands and fight like gentlemen. Like no shots, no running away, we’ll just fight until someone dies. Everybody’s asking me how I feel about the fight and I just want us both to leave on stretchers, it’s all I want man, I just want that fight so bad.
“It should be a bloody bath,” Curtis continued. “He’s like ‘let’s get fight of the night’, I just went, ‘let’s get fight of the year’.”
Chris Curtis is former training partners with Joaquin Buckley
Curtis would reveal that he and Buckley had trained together in the past, but wasn’t worried, believing it has no bearing on how the fight will play out.
“I helped him train for that” [Buckley’s fight with Abdul Razak Alhassan], Curtis said. “We trained together it’s fine. I’m not one of those people that really cares, I don’t put too much stock in the training room.“
“If he wants to base how this is gonna go off of the training room. It’s a lot different when those gloves become 4Oz gloves and they’re paying me to hit you.”
