If Chuck Liddell and Mike Tyson were to brawl on the streets, “The Iceman” feels he’d win that battle.

Liddell and Tyson have carved out legendary careers in their respective combat sports. Liddell is a former UFC light heavyweight champion and a UFC Hall of Famer. Tyson once ruled as boxing’s undisputed heavyweight champion and is in the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Liddell Says He’d Beat Tyson In Street Fight

Liddell appeared on Fighting Is The Reward with Ed Mylett. When asked if he could beat Tyson in a street fight, “The Iceman’s” answer was clear (via MMAMania.com).

“In a street fight, I’d win,” Liddell told Ed Mylett. “I mean, he’s got a puncher’s chance. He’s got a chance to catch me coming in. But other than that, it’s over.”

Liddell was last seen in action back in Nov. 2018. He took on Tito Ortiz in their third match-up. Liddell was knocked out in the first round.

As for Tyson, he hasn’t been in a professional boxing match since June 2005 when he was defeated by Kevin McBride. Tyson did have an exhibition match with Corey Sanders in 2006. While no winner was announced, it was clear that Tyson got the better of Sanders all four rounds and even dropped him.

ESPN’s “30 For 30” documentary series took it’s focus to the Octagon last month with their Chuck and Tito documentary. The film chronicles the importance of the friendship turned rivalry between Chuck Lidell and Tito Ortiz. A rivalry which helped catapult the UFC into the mainstream.

Highlighted in the documentary were the two UFC showdowns between the light heavyweight legends. Liddell defeated his former teammate Ortiz with back-to-back TKOs. However, the feud didn’t close without a controversial trilogy bout just last year, where Liddell controversially came out of retirement at age 48 and fought Ortiz for the third time. Ortiz won via KO in the first round. It was hinted at the end of the “30 For 30” that Liddell could potentially fight again.

Given Liddell’s age and ending to his UFC career, many were against the trilogy bout in the first place. One individual in particular against the fight and perhaps most notably was Dana White. White appeared on TMZ and voiced his opinion on the matter. (H/T BJPenn.com)

“Chuck Liddell is 50-years-old and should not be fighting. And he’s a grown man and can do whatever he wants to do, but let me tell you what. The commission who sanctions that fight… wow.” White continued.

“I love him, I respect him. The crazy thing is, all the reasons we love Chuck Liddell are the same reasons he wants to fight. To his core he’s a fighter, it’s what he loves to do, (but) that third fight should have never happened.”

Liddell is, and always will be, a legend of the sport, but the UFC president and friend in Dana White has no interest in seeing Liddell in another MMA contest again.

Do you think Liddell should hang his MMA gloves up for good?

Chuck Liddell’s mixed martial arts (MMA) career may be over, but his professional wrestling career could just be getting started.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Liddell reveals he used to party with Shane McMahon, a top WWE executive and son of professional wrestling tycoon Vince McMahon, and Shane actually tried recruiting him for WWE in the past.

“I used to hang out with Shane McMahon every once in a while, we would go out and party sometimes,” Liddell said. “And he said ‘If you’re ever seriously interested about coming over we should talk.’ I love fighting and I love being in real fighting and I mean I got nothing against WWE.

“I wouldn’t mind doing that now too. It’s just acting, going out and doing the acting. Those guys do some pretty impressive things in the ring as far as… I mean it’s all staged, but it’s still you know, it’s not easy.”

The 49-year-old also explained how different the WWE is from any other form of sport or entertainment. In the ring, you must rely on your dance partner to keep you save, as you’re putting your safety in their very hands.

“One of the things I’ve always had with that sport too, is the difference between my sport and their things, see you’re putting your trust in the other guy not to hurt you,” Liddell said.

“Surrendering your body to him. Like, throw you and hope he doesn’t hurt you. In my sport, I’m responsible for you not hurting me. I like having the responsibility on my end not yours.”

What do you make of Liddell’s WWE interest?

UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell believes it isn’t worth it for BJ Penn to continue engaging in street fights.

Yesterday, TMZ obtained footage showing Penn getting into an altercation with a civilian in Hawaii. In one clip, the civilian notably knocked Penn out cold as the footage went viral. It wasn’t the first time the Hawaiian was involved in a street fight this year either.

Many have since called for him to retire, especially with “The Prodigy” set for what appears to be one last UFC bout against Nik Lentz. For Liddell, he believes any fight has to be postponed after Penn got knocked out:

“It really isn’t worth it at this point in our lives,” Liddell told TMZ of the incident. “Well, he’s supposed to fight soon, right? I was told he got knocked out. If he got knocked out, I think that cancels the fight. You got to take some time off after that to recover.”

The UFC nor Dana White is yet to comment on Penn’s latest antics. However, Liddell believes the latter will have to postpone Penn’s fight at the very least:

He’s going to have to at least postpone it for a little bit,” Liddell concluded.

Penn and Lentz have verbally agreed to fight, however, there is no location or date for their fight as of yet. It wouldn’t be surprising if it was postponed to next year or called off completely though.

Do you agree with Liddell?
