Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt has always claimed his archrival T.J. Dillashaw was using performance-enhancing drugs.
Now, it looks as though “No Love” was telling the truth all along. Dillashaw was suspended two years by USADA for failed drug test(s) stemming from samples collected in December and January.
Garbrandt, who lost back-to-back fights against Dillashaw, sounded off on his former teammate-turned-bitter rival earlier today on Twitter.
Test all his samples I bet for a fact more epo pops up, @TJDillashaw is a coward. Tj call me when that suspension is up! Scum bag https://t.co/LIjynev9VT
“No Love” then pointed out that all of his losses (3) have come at the hands of fighters who have been popped by USADA. That statement, although fundamentally correct, is not one hundred percent fact.
It should be pointed out Pedro Munhoz was ‘popped’ pre-USADA in 2014. Realizing he was ranting a bit, Garbrandt insisted he was done. He was not..
All of my losses are from Fighters that have popped for PEDs @ufc@usantidoping I can stand behind this when I say I’ll always be a drug free athlete, #1 reason is the believe I have in myself. #2 I respect the game Twitter rant over y’all have a good day
Garbrandt’s assessment is a fair one. He did throw his gameplan out the window in those fights and paid for it. However, he raises a fair point. The fact of the matter is, all of his losses have come at the hands of fighters who have had a history with PEDs.
“No Love” then turned his attention to Dillashaw’s striking coach, Duane Ludwig. Garbrandt went so far as to claim Ludwig was complicit in Dillashaw’s PED use.
Oh for sure Duane is crying that was his life’s work invested into him but Duane knew he was on the juice to. What a leader he is! https://t.co/CT4iE3r2aT
Dillashaw will be able to return to action in January of 2021. As for Garbrandt, the onetime bantamweight king finds himself on a three-fight skid, the first of his career.
News of TJ Dillashaw’s United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) issues has taken the mixed martial arts (MMA) community by surprise today. But it didn’t surprise his most bitter rival. News of TJ Dillashaw’s United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) issues has taken the mixed martial arts (MMA) community by surprise today. But it didn’t surprise his most bitter rival. In fact, Cody Garbrandt accused Dillashaw of using exactly what he was suspended for.
Dillashaw was on the verge of cementing his legacy as one of, if not the, greatest bantamweights of all-time. Unfortunately, a failed drug test prior to his fight with Henry Cejudo in January has brought all of that into question. Dillashaw tested positive for recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO), and was subsequently handed a two-year suspension by USADA.
He voluntarily relinquished his then-held bantamweight title once the news initially broke. He then did not contest the USADA suspension when it was announced today (Tues. April 9, 2019). Journalist Chisanga Malata? has also brought up a very interesting past tweet from Dillashaw’s former teammate-turned-rival Cody Garbrandt.
A year ago, Garbrandt tweeted out that all of the “EPO” was going to Dillashaw’s head. Now, a year later, that’s the exact substance USADA has busted “The Viper” for:
UFC bantamweight competitor Pedro Munhoz will remain temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). Munhoz was issued a temporary suspension for his UFC 235 celebration. He jumped the Octagon fence after knocking out ex-135-pound champion Cody Garbrandt. Both Munhoz and Garbrandt took home an extra $50,000 for their “Fight Of The Night”-winning performances. […]
Today (Wed. March 27, 2019), the NSAC voted unanimously to extend Munhoz’s temporary celebration until he goes before the commission. He is being accused of ignoring the commission’s instructions to stay off the Octagon fence and remain in the cage after his win.
NSAC Executive Director Bob Bennett spoke to MMA Fighting and noted that the rule is in place to protect the fighters from injury, as well as from possibly harming others:
“Our inspectors were specifically advised by me to make sure the fighters knew they were not authorized to jump out of the cage,” Bennett said.
It was also noted that the punishment has nothing to do with the infamous incident between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor’s team at October’s UFC 229.

Cody Garbrandt vows to make his return better than ever in his next fight when he steps back into the Octagon.
The former UFC bantamweight champion made his return but is now on a three fight losing streak and had to answer some questions from fight fans regarding his last fight. Specifically, why he had a wild brawl that led to the finish at the UFC 235 pay-per-view event.
Garbrandt suffered a first round loss to Pedro Munhoz at UFC 235 pay-per-view event. This show went down on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It was an awesome fight but odd in the same way as typically a fighter who is on a losing streak doesn’t take wild chances that Garbrandt did in this fight. He took to his official Instagram account where he issued the following statement:
“Kill or be killed, that’s how this shit goes!” he wrote, adding, “I want to thank everyone on this journey! I love this fight game. I’m healing up and will be back soon.”

The former UFC bantamweight champion made his return but suffered a first round loss to Pedro Munhoz at UFC 235 pay-per-view event. This show went down on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Prior to this fight, UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw scored a first round KO victory over Garbrandt in the main event of the UFC 227 pay-per-view event. The finish of the fight at UFC 227 saw Dillashaw land ferocious flurry in the first round following dropping Garbrandt at first with a right hook.
Before this, their first fight went down at the UFC 217 pay-per-view event in November of 2017 where Dillashaw finished Garbrandt to win back the bantamweight title.
Now, he’s on a three fight losing streak and had to answer some questions from fight fans regarding why he had a wild brawl that led to the finish. He addressed this concern through the power of his official Twitter account:
“I got head butted and after the head butt I was on auto pilot, congrats to Pedro he stuck tough. I love this fight game. I’ll be back thank you to all my supporters means a lot!” He would later add, “Love you guys. Congrats to@PedroMunhozmma.”
